Fourth on the to-do list for this year is to clean the above-pictured area, which is theoretically the enclosed shower in my bathroom, but has been used as an upstairs loo for the cats, owing to a leak from the shower pipe that runs down inside the wall. Since I haven't felt like cutting into the wall to fix the leak, my husband and I use the other upstairs bathroom, and I felt like this was a pretty good place to put a litter box, for easy cleanup.
Alas, for some reason there is always some scummy buildup on the floor near where the bucket is (and, please note, that is NOT a bucket of used litter--it's a bucket of aquarium gravel that I didn't have any other convenient place for). I can only assume that this has something to do with the fact that it is clumping litter, and there is some moisture to which it adheres. It's VERY difficult to clean. Generally, I can vacuum up the loose litter around the box and keep the area pretty tidy in the short term, but the scummyness builds up after a while, and I have to give it a proper scrubbing.
I'm actually considering cleaning out the entire business and dispensing with the litter box completely, as my new furchildren don't seem to have any interest in using the box like my previous cats did. If I do that, then maybe I'll add "open the wall and fix the leak" to my to-do list, but...
...first things first.

Maybe you will post the picture later? That's quite an item on your to-do list if you open the wall up! Good luck. Stay safe and healthy. It's good to see you here. We missed you!

Sorry, I tried to post the picture with the article, but my internet was a little problematic yesterday. I'm so glad at least the article posted! Having to re-write it would have been annoying.

Yes, it's the shower pipe that runs up behind the wall, but at least I don't have to go through tile--I can access it through the drywall on the closet, which is behind the shower.
