Books are free or cheap

A lot of authors are offering free or cheap books.. atleast for kindle readers. With lots of people across the US (and the world) being told to stay home, authors are providing their fans with free or cheap books.
So if you like to read, and don't mind using an e-reader, be on the lookout. I don't know if it's just for kindle, or if you can get some books on the KOBO, NOOK or Apple books...
I've been grabbing up some books as I've seen them and I intend on writing a review as a way of saying "Thanks for making this book free."
Thought I'd let the readers of mylot know.

So many authors banding together to make sure people have an option outside of television. We all need to distance ourselves from the media at the moment, they are repeating the same things over and over again, and causing fear.

I don't use my Kindle; and I prefer a real book; but thank you for the tip. Stay safe and healthy.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I like regular books more too. But Kindle books are a lot cheaper in general, and there are often free ones. So I read those too. I think you get kind of used to kindle after a while.

That's cool. I haven't seen free books but I know a lot of books are discounted. One of my favorite publishing companies just put about 10 of their kindle books on sale for 99 cents, where they were over $5 each before. So that was pretty great, and a few of the authors on sale were ones I really like. I was thrilled to get it. Of course, free would have been better. I know Kindle has self-published books for free all the time, but it's nice when books that are normally expensive are on sale or free.

I've seen a lot of books that usually retail for about $15.00 go for free. Most of them are for limited time. Then there' always the kindle best sellers list free.

@averygirl72 If you are on facebook, search out some facebook groups as people are posting the boks they find. If not, then just looking for "kindle best sellers list free" should help you find books.

Yes, It will help a lot of people, I think. I hope that it will help keep people distracted. They will be less likely to turn on the tv as well, and that will keep people calm.

@Nevena83 I hope that it will. Turning off the tv, especially here in the US, will help. The news sources are constantly talking about this virus, which is causing more panic.

That is good. I have seen something like that as well. I just ordered the PDF of You. That should keep me entertained for awhile.

I think it's awesome that authors are doing that. Lots of people are going to be bored, worried, and need some distraction that doesn't cost them anything.

I think it benefits both the reader and the author. They get reviews / views, and the potentiality of future sales... We get free books when we need to tighten our purse strings.

I will generally make my book cheap instead of free as I want everyone to read my book not only the privillege few whom can afford the book.

Right now a lot of authors are doing it because of the corona virus. I am sure that they are getting lots of views and reviews, and that it might cause some to buy some of their other books.

I've heard about some libraries extending their borrowing (atleast for physical books) because they are closing due to the virus.

@Marilynda1225 I am not sure if ours are, but I imagine that they probably are. I know this is a pandemic and people need to be cautious and careful, but I'm also glad that more people are reading.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I just found chapters from the classic book Rascal on Youtube. I loved Sterling North when I was a kid. He fed my rebel side as well as my naturalist side.
