Some economic calculations for Covid-19

I have long advocated stopping all activities for a couple of months.
Now I say 21 days...at least twenty one days?
Let every employer pay 21 days pay upfront. Let essentials be rationed through govt. department - people have to buy these within 3 days and stay put in their homes.
Only health care workers police and those in electricity fire fighting or water departments will work. No visiting, no partying, and apps to indicate where the person is. Strictly follow the rules.
Now, 21 days - 3 days = 18 working days. That is the loss, right?
18 x 8 hours per day = 144 hours.
Let people work 1 hour extra after those 21 days for the rest of the year.
The business does not run into losses, instead gets additional monies.
The government gets more taxes.
There is cost saving as far as medical costs is concerned.
There is life saving of people as well as exhausted health care workers.
And equipment will be enough, hospitals will not be overcrowded, no cleaning will be needed of buses, trains, air crafts, etc. So saving of cleaning fluids. No need for excess masks which will now be available for health care workers.
Skeletal businesses will run. But do we need to have garment factories running? Or shoe businesses? Or eateries? Jewelry shops? Electronic shops? We can reduce a lot of possibilities if we act this way and still improve our economies.

The situation now is creating a gargantuan economic problem. Our country is under state of emergency for 6 months. That is so difficult to compute.

@vandana7 no one can ask a country on what to do. We just have to bear with the problem and do what we can.

It always sounds so good on paper but the reality is that many employers are not rich enough to give all their employees 21 days of pay. Plus, cleaning will still be required although fancy cleaning fluids might not be required just some household bleach should do the trick.
Teach people to wash their hands with warm water and soap frequently and maybe the problem will be solved.

True. Therefore, they should get a 21 days minimum sustenance amount given to them by the government. I am not great one to take the risk. I think XI did great job! Though the way it is being handled in South Korea is more appreciable. Rest of the political leaders are so "we are advanced nation, it won't be tough to tackle this" mentally. Not true! The virus survives for almost 3 days on metal surfaces and even on plastics. We have our door handles, car steering, light buttons, remote controls, water taps, etc. Are you going to remember to wash hands every time you touch those? What about those who live with you.

It is wonderful that you have a plan of action for us during a time like this. I will not go so far out personally maybe because I lack the brains to think deeply on administrative matters.
I think your outlook on the shops is also very comprehensive. Maybe we should adopt this in the long term and not just during the COVID emergency.
