Beginning last Wednesday it's been hard to keep our shelves stocked, and my daughter's return from Mexico.

Last week on Wednesday all s**t hit the fan as it was decided that the schools would be closed the following week for at least three weeks. It was also a ten for ten week which is busy enough and that continued also. On Sat and Sunday business was slower which allowed about ten of us to help stock the grocery shelves somewhat. This past Monday was extra busy again I think because people were afraid we'd be either closing or closing during the night like other stores have decided. But we're staying open 24 hrs still. If I wanted I could work seven days and extra hours each day. I did pick up a shift last Thursday but won't this week as I have medical paperwork to fill out and haven't any clue when it's due. The first pic is the toilet paper aisle which is like that every day. When we get it in it doesn't last long. There next is the Kleenex aisle. One is frozen, breads, and produce at the end. ~~~~~ As far as my daughter, she went with her soon to be husband and his family in a planned trip to a resort in Mexico. They went ten days ago when the cruise ships and other vacations were still in effect but no one foresaw the changes that would be implemented. She has made it to American soil but before the plane touched down in Chicago it was discovered that one of the controllers had the virus and the plane was diverted to st. Louis instead. They considered driving but found new connecting flights instead. They have to go to Tennessee next and finally Detroit where their cars are for their last leg of their journey. They had enough time to sleep at a hotel either last night or this morning. What's going on in your neck of the woods?

The situation of contamination is a lot worse here, but our stores are full of everything and people are not rushing to buy. We keep calm, we stay at home, we only go out shopping one day per week and we hope that this thing will go away soon.

@MarshaMusselman NO the stores are open from Monday to Saturday, this is not a senior community, this does not exist here in Switzerland, this is a small town (4,000 people) and there are young people and seniors. I have seen no one buying more than they need. I will go out again the next week, may be on Thursday, just for a few things like vegetables, eggs and milk.

@LadyDuck the limits that can be purchased are now lower and stores have shelves with more product at present overall other than toilet paper. Our store is as also now closing during the night which should help a lot. We don't really know who might be buying in excess since we don't know their family size.

Is there stores only open one day per week? Is your community mostly retired individuals or do you have young families there too? I'm sure most people unless they traveled recently or went someplace warm for the winter months have plenty of food in their house already but even so those same people think they need more.

I’m sure your daughter will kiss the ground once she gets home.

I doubt she went that far. She arrived at four pm yesterday, finally.

@DianneN yeah it's right. She stayed here the next day and then at the s suggestion of her sister moved out for two weeks to ensure s she doesn't pass any surprises to us. The problem is many customers could be doing that very thing unawares.

I'm glad they made it home. I'm sorry someone on the first flight proved positive for the virus. My neck of the woods, we're all closed with only drive-thrus open at fast food. The YWCA closes at the end of the day today instead of Friday. My church is online through Facebook until further notice. There's a definite change here.

Only churches with less than fifty people started open here and maybe by next those are closed too. Our church is doing a podcast of the services. The bars, restaurants and finessed centers are all closed and car side or drive thrus are open. It wasn't someone in the flight that was found with the virus otherwise they all be quarantined but rather someone in the control tower. I don't know if they were working out called in and there weren't enough control people to manage all the flights.

our church has been having our Sunday service on facebook the past two weeks. I don't know if next week will be the same. I did get some tp at the grocery store this weekend. Our county has 3 cases so far.

My two churches are being done with either podcasts or direct streaming. I think we may now have three cases also but I'm not sure. Our state is now on lockdown in the hopes that three kids take it seriously but the parents aren't all making them comply so we'll see.

Not much going on here. We are having a problem finding some things in the store but we are doing fine. Just staying in the house and doing home type things.

I'll be staying home today and tomorrow, but working my normal days otherwise. If it warms up tomorrow I may go out and do some much needed raking and pick up sticks from a tree in the back yard.

@MarshaMusselman Many people are not working and not by choice. Many of the offices and such are closed down in this area.

@HazySue same here. Many places are closed yet when we are extra busy if someone had the illnesses and doesn't know it yet they could be spreading it while getting their shopping done. Since masks are in short supply some are now wearing scarves and bandanas instead.

I figured as much. Even the home stores are running out of their toilet paper. Charmin has a plant here North of us and people called them to see if they could buy direct. We also heard that t this Charmin plant was hiring 20 more people to help with production.
