Food for thought

I don't know if this pandemic is a call to repentance or if it's nature in rebellion or if it's a lab project gone wrong. But I do believe that we Americans have turned our backs on God and His authority. Then we're surprised when He stops blessing us. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) 14) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Our country has never faced something like this in the past. Maybe this warning from the Bible has nothing to do with this pandemic, but who can argue with the idea of wanting God to heal our land? What are your views on this?

I think I would agree with you, but I know many people would not like my attitude, so I will remain silent.

As long as you're not being really hateful, you have every right to voice your opinion here. I know some myLotters won't agree with my post, but that's okay.

@1creekgirl I have never hated anyone, but there are countries that have done us great injustice, but this does not apply to the people of that country but to the then government, but people often misunderstand it.

We all need to be heroes to flatten the curve to stop this virus from spreading with practicing good hygiene practices and social distancing. I agree with that scripture verse.

@1creekgirl Agreed. I just wish those spring breakers would heed state law and go home.

I think this time that we are being forced to take from our busy lives should be a wake up call about what is important. I am not scared for myself but I am disturbed by the greed that is being revealed.

I wish we would all slow down and see what really is important in this life and trust God for His mercy.

It had crossed my mind that it may be that period of floods, famines, and disease we have all heard of.

Yeah, it does seem to be similar to warnings in the Bible. It says these things are the beginning, but not the end yet. All we can do is trust God and do everything we can to stay safe and well.

I think God gets tired of the way man is acting and behaving.

I agree. How long can this country continue to expect God's blessings while we turn our backs on Him?

I'm not sure... I guess it isn't beyond imagination it could be that way, though I think on it as a freak thing... it got out of control, unsure why it happened in the first place , though someetimees I wonder the samee thing about natural disasters. It's an imperfect world - for suree

I agree. I think more of us around the world need to turn to God in this crisis. It is something that would also be comforting in this time of need. We might have to practice social distancing, but that doesn't mean we can't practice unity either.

Prayer is certainly a component of beating this virus. Maybe instead of singing happy birthday while washing our hands, we should trying praising the Lord and asking for his help. I think I will start this immediately.

That's a great idea. There are lots of short little kids' Sunday School songs that we could sing.

For those who read the Bible whether they believe it or not, or believe in God or not, the scriptures do contain a lot of information about the environment and health practices and what to do to prevent the spread of infectious diseases from starting and/or stop it once it has begun. As for God punishing us? I'm like this. I'm a parent with a child or children. If I have already told my child or children NOT to do something because I KNOW what the results will be if they do it. And then … they do it! What is it child? Now you're going to say I'm punishing you for what you did??! If you had listened to what I told you NOT to do “the virus” (or whatever!) would have never happened! So don't turn around now, point at me, and say I'm punishing you when you could have avoided the mess that you're in!! I advised you! I warned you! What do I have to do? Tie you down??! I believe we are all God's children. But we are never made or forced to do anything by Him. We have free will. We choose to do what we choose to do. We reap what we sow.

@cmoneyspinner Couldn't agree more! The first sin was committed by Adam. What was his response when God questioned him on what he had done? Was he sorry? Did he ask for forgiveness? He actually blamed God by saying that he ate the fruit because of the woman that God had given him.

Love lives in all parts of creation, but the creation must allow love into their hearts, and not block it off with their minds. Any blockage of love is sin, following love is following God, and his will for our life. God feels our love when it is given to others from Heaven.

I think this is the best time to really bend our knees, be sorry for our sins and lift everything to Him. Our faith must be stronger and bigger than our fears nowadays. Thanks for this beautiful verse. :)
