Sunshine and fresh air: Can these help kill germs, viruses and more?

We were taught that being outside for a portion of the day was a way to stay healthy. Perhaps there are hundreds of studies found online that promote fresh air and sunshine when there is some illness going around.
Today we made sure we got the fresh air and sun our grandparents would have recommended. However, we have spoken to some who won't venture outside for anything!
Back outside for me in a minute. What virus could be in the woods I'm walking through today? Yes, perhaps a tic is waiting for me, but off I go.
Get some fresh air and sunshine and try to stay well!

We live in the woods, so are always aware we must check for tics. They are just part of the planet like we are. Still not sure why (after years of working in research).

@just4him They are just here, so we have to check each other and shake out our outer clothing when we get back.

It seems like a good idea to us @GreatMartin
if you've made it this far, you have seen and been through more than most of us can imagine.

Yes, head to the woods.
This would also be a great time for everyone to do another thorough cleaning of their home, car, pets.

@PatZAnthony I wish I could be in Montana, working on my cabin. But I don't know when I'll be called back to work.

@Nevena83 SNOW! Oh, I hope we don't see it again this year. Some really enjoy the snow, but I much prefer the warm weather.

There are just a few people walking through the area each day. People are allowed to take their kids to the park for exercise, as long as they are not in a large group and follow the 3-6 ft rule.
No more than ten people can gather together and everything here is closed, so there is no place to with a group except outside.

I was outside today as it is very nice, and the weather had the added bonus of allowing my tulip to open.

If it would get warm and less windy I'd get some exercise while outside too by getting some raking in. But in my days off it's been on the colder side work a brisk cold wind. Not my type of weather.

The cold and I don't get along. I'd have to let any outside projects wait for the sunny days.

@PatZAnthony I might be forced to get along with the cold, periodically but it's not my preference. If I could shoot through a tunnel until warmer temps to get to work that would be nice than walking in wintery weather mid may.
I don't think it's quite thirty yet today.

We just enjoy the sun and fresh air as much as we can @DianneN
It has really gotten worse, but what can we do but try to take care of ourselves and follow the rules (or at least most of the rules).

Even in a large city, most could walk around and not come in close contact with others. Some have said we are crazy for going outside, but when we were kids, no one stayed in because a neighbor didn't feel well!

@JudyEv This is something too many don't understand! Some act like there are organized little armies of cooties out hunting for humans.

@PatZAnthony And it seems that as a general rule the bacteria or whatever aren't floating around in the air once you get away from people.

Sunshine can kill some germs, but I do not know if it can kill the NCOV 19! Just wear a mask when going out. Keep safe!

We are walking on our property...no one here to cough or sneeze.
Remember as children everyone was outside getting fresh air.

@acelawrites We are under orders starting tomorrow that everyone must stay home unless:
They have to work
Go for food or to a pharmacy
Exercise outside
Medical attention/appointments
So far we have not heard of anyone we know being ill, but the virus has been reported here in North Carolina and the numbers are slowly growing.

I do that if the weather is nice on Saturdays because no computer or TV on that day. I read and spend time with my cat and take in sun if there is it.

We can be out as long as we have a good reason. Happily exercise is on the list. We saw people on bikes, kids running on the street.

Yes, we need to stay busy. I feel the fresh air is more important also than staying inside! It makes no sense to all be locked up in a place where we are breathing stale air.

Fresh air is just the best thing (we think) along with some sun and proper nutrients to help ourselves stay well. @mom210 One of the things I remember most from childhood was being told to go outside!

Enjoy being outside.
I'm conflicted with the going outside or staying in.

Fresh air and sunshine was what we were told to get as children. "Go OUTSIDE" when the schools were closed was the common reaction from parents.
Fresh air and sunny days can't be harmful.
