Have you ever been in one? I may have visited one once or twice - but I hadn't been in one recently until my dad was placed there from the regular part of the nursing home.
I'm part sad, but I'm a lot relived. He's safer there and now people can see what we have had to deal with all along. He can't torture us any more. I mean that literally too btw. He had an unusual combination of mental health issues and was fairly controlling and abusive for most of my life.
But, there was a nice side to him too.
He is very confused , and doesn't know how to talk on the phone any more, he has a nurse prompt him. Doesn't know where he is.
I feel for the people in there who can't have visits now because of the corona virus, but I understand keeping them safe too

I'm so sorry to here about your dad. My mum is in a similar place so I know what you're going through. It's mother's day in the UK on Sunday and I can't visit her. I live about 150 miles away so my visits are very precious.
I suppose we all have to make sacrifices during these steange times.

Thank you. How's your mom? Did she adjust ok to where she is? I'm sorry you can't go visit her, but you're right that is safe during these odd times

@FayeHazel It was difficult at first. Whenever we visited she was very confused as to why she couldn't come away with us.
She's been there 2 years now and to be honest whenever we visit now it feels like we're interrupting her life. She has a few friends she sits with and doesn't really want to be taken away from them when we visit her.
It's not easy for us fir but she's obviously very content now which has to be the most important thing.

Oh so true. I get paranoid that they will try and kick him out... (because last year he got sent home all so often with hospital stay saying there was "nothing wrong with him" when obviously there was/is) … but it was so reassuring to know the nurse said that he couldn't be sent home, even for the afternoon with an aide, as it would be too difficult. Someone finally sees it.

Ah, it's the section of the nursing home that is usually locked. It's got the people with memory problems in there, so, locked to keep them safe.
Some folks don't know anyone anymore, dad's not quite there yet though
