I am almost 59 years old and I have medical issues, so I understand why I cannot go out.
I have 2 of my 7 grandkids over during the day Monday thru Friday, so I understand washing my hands alot more when their here and washing their hands as well.
About 3 weeks ago I had 2 places on my right them that dried up, split open and bled from washing my hand so much from changing diapers and making food.
But I am home alone now, I am going nowhere so why am I having to wash my hands so much now too?![](/Content/images/emotes/rolleyes.gif)

Hello dreamertink. I am 56 years old and live in India. We don't have much of a problem with the virus, at least not yet. Washing is the best way to get rid of germs. I guess not washing is alright as long you don't touch too many things around you. We are also keeping indoors here in India as much as possible.

You are probably doing it without realizing it. No reason to keep washing your hands if you are home alone and are not touching anything dirty.

I am basically doing what they said and I have to also wash my grandkids hands during the week. But I also got instructions from a doctor that says that everyone needs to wash their hands every 20 minutes.![](/Content/images/emotes/sad.gif)

@dfollin I have not heard about that. That seems extreme to do that, especially if you are at home.

I think you just got use to it. Though i wash my hands alot at home. Because there's so much nasty out there. Before and after washing dishes by hand, after going to the bathroom, after putting dirty laundry in the wash and using the soap, before switching the laundry over and taking it out. Before folding laundry (if done on another day or later that day). After doing cat litter. Before eating, and after if eating by hand. Etc.

I am all alone and I do not wash my hands all the time. You should put on some moisturizer and rub it well into your hands.A good way to heal hands is to use moisturizer and then put on cotton or other light gloves and keep them on overnight,

If you're home alone, you don't have to keep washing your hands.
