More time to Mylot

Because of the "enhanced community quarantine " ( just a glorified way to say " lockdown" lol) now enforced on the whole Luzon island ( one of the 3 main island groups of the Philippines) to fight the Pandemic, I think I would now have a little bit more time to Mylot.
My work as a businessman in the past has limited my participation here to picking discussions at random, commenting and responding, perhaps with limited business activity now in the National capital region ( where I am at) and the 9pm to 5am curfew in my city I won't have much to do in my physical shop.
I'm also now living on my emergency fund that I set aside incase an emergency situation such as this arises and something disrupts my income, Mylot money would of course be a welcome addition since only my online incomes are functioning normally.
How's the situation in your place? Are you also locked down like us? Is the NCOVId-19 hampering your work? Are you ready or getting ready? How's the situation in your place? I hope everyone's safe and healthy, have a nice and happy weekend

The mention of emergency fund reminds me of some neighbors here who are minimum wage earners whose company closed shop due to the community quarantine. I wonder how they would fare next week.

I agree with you, people who are on a no work no pay basis would be affected. I own a junk shop and I'm thinking of all the people I know who need to sell cardboards, cans , plastic to survive on a daily basis.
I'm a practical prepper and time after time I had been telling people that savings is different from emergency fund, my emergency fund is cash hidden in different parts of the house ( not inside the bank), not even my wife knows I have one , it's reserved for situations such as what we are experiencing now.

@Alexandoy good for you, nobody in our household earns a salary that's why my emergency fund is a bit large just in case. My seaman son also just arrived a few weeks ago because even shipping had been disrupted by the virus, good thing that he finished his contract just in time before it became a pandemic.

@louievill we also have an emergency fund in our vault hidden in one cabinet. But we don't need it yet since my wife has her salary.

Most likely it's gonna be extended I don't think it's gonna go away in a months time. I live in a private subdivision here in Metro Manila and they just announced a 24 hour curfew in our village only one person per family would be allowed to go out to buy basic necessities.

We are in a lockdown until April 19th. Nothing really changed for us, we are both retired and we stay home most of the time. It is annoying not to be free to go out grocery shopping where we like, only once a week at the stores closest to our home.

Ours is up to April 13 and I really hope it won't be extended, 24 hour curfew meaning strictly no going out of the house starts today sad but we need to give up some of our liberties to fight this virus

@LadyDuck yes seniors with existing medical conditions are the most vulnerable although there had been cases of younger people dying and elder people recovering. Just days ago a young cardiologist in our country passed away after getting infected

@louievill We have the same rule for all "seniors" during one week, it will be hard.

It hasn't made a lot of difference to us as we're retired. We usually take photos at horse endurance rides and all those have been cancelled. And we might have gone caravanning in our spare time so that isn't going to happen either. But otherwise not much has changed.

That's one advantage retired people with pensions have over business people like me, no retirement and we work till we drop our income is also affected by events around us.

@JudyEv everything's down Judy, Philippine stocks are down 24 % after they attempted to re-open, cryptocurrency is down as well, I guess we just need to wait and see.

@louievill And our superannuation (at least the bit that is tied up in shares) is plummeting through the floor.

So do you have a curfew? We are now on 24hr.curfew instead of the 8pm-5am, it was just announced this afternoon and would be effective tomorrow, no ifs, no buts, violators would be arrested so it means no going out of the house up to April 13

We aren't in lockdown yet. Our county has 3 cases so far. The only thing that has changed is that I haven't gotten to go to church in the past two weeks.

Church and worship is what we would miss in a lockdown, even during the milder community quarantine phase, social distancing was enforced in the pews. Services could be done online but the fellowship just isn't there, no more handshakes and hugging. I hope and pray there won't be anymore new cases in your county.

I've got an emergency fund besides my savings and I have assets too, I don't think it would reach that point where I would be asking for donations It's not my nature to ask help from other people, almost all my life I had been the giver, donor and provider
