Learning to Work Online

So this past week has been busy. Last Friday I made the decision to stop teaching voice lessons in person and have spent this week learning how to use Zoom for that purpose. It is not the same, but I can work with it now and feel as though I can teach via the platform. So yesterday I sent out notices to all my students telling them that online lessons will be made available to them starting this week. It has also been a time of rapid change, for me, for all of us. My husband and I are both over 60 with underlying health conditions. And California has a shelter in place order out there for the foreseeable future. So, we are both learning to get more work done in the virtual world. He is a church musician, and has his first live streaming mass in about an hour. It will be him, the priest and a cantor. How are you all doing with this rapidly changing situation? Stay healthy!

@DianneN For a while, I read the newspaper first thing in the morning, but it made me too anxious--so now I meditate first--Hang in there and stay safe

For me, the biggest problem right now is trying to buy food because the stores are having a hard time keeping items on the shelves. Having worked in grocery stores when things are bad, I feel for these people, though I never went through anything like this. I just exercise calm and patience to try and find food. In regards to work, I cannot work from home because I work in a supply chain for hospitals and everything that is done there directly affects hospitals. So I try to keep myself as healthy and as sanitize as possible. I hope everyone take care of themselves, stay safe and exercise caution while we get through this.

@divalounger Thanks. It's rough, not as rough as others have it, but I'm making through. Luckily, I don't hang out as much and it could be due to the long hours lol.

Take care of yourself--getting food is a problem and so is working out in the world right now, but it sounds like you have both under control.

My husband and I are both over 65, healthy, but the Government (to protect seniors) have asked to all of us not to go out of our home. It's a bit hard.

@divalounger Good luck. It is very hard when we are over 60 and have health issues.

I am adjusting OK: but my husband has cabin fever already! We are both in the "elderly" category; so we are lying low for a while.

It's good that you're both adjusting and getting on with your usual pursuits as best you can. We might all be learning more about internet options in the near future.
