Would you like to be a transcriber?

Now many people want to work from home. I found some transcription jobs. But it's very difficult to be a transcriber. A person who writes exactly what he/she is hearing is a transcriber. Each word should be written.
Recently I tried it, but some ratings were low. I couldn't understand all words. I am a beginner and my rating is dropping fast. Maybe I will give up. Would you like to be a transcriber?

Yes I would like to do this, but I do not have quiet or peace to do it here.

@RebeccasFarm You have bad luck because you have noisy people near you. I also have such people, but I changed my room.

That is one of the jobs I am hoping to have but it seems it is a hard one based on your personal experience.

@yoalldudes Yes. I need to practice more. I am sure that I can learn. But it will take a while.

I have studied stenography. One time I was requested to transcribe an actual hearing of the city council I refused for there's an employee to do the work. Besides I may be transcribing some proceedings in error.

I gave it serious consideration for a while. However, for the reasons that you mentioned, I didn't start.
I'm sure it's not as easy as it sounds. I would be afraid of a dropped rating myself so I decided not to pursue.
Another reason I decided against it is that I get interruptions throughout the day quite often. It would be hard to block out enough time to focus and concentrate on my work.

I was very keen to try online transcription because I've done it offline and enjoyed it. However, I didn't like it and feel it's very shoddily paid -imagine slogging away for hours only to earn say, $2
. The site I tried was great but I decided after much thought to chuck it in.
I'm more comfortable with ALL the British regional accents because I worked in UK contact centres for years but struggle with the thick American and Australian accents and colloquialisms.

@dya80dya It's called QA World. The test is very easy, so it's easy to get in. Plus, the support is fantastic. I doubt many other sites can beat it, based on some of the horror stories I've heard. So I highly recommend it if transcribing is your thing.

I tried it for a little while and it was kind of fun, but sadly I got fired not because of my errors of transcribing, but when I was granted the chance to be a grader I made too many errors.

@dya80dya I am really good at understanding accents and even mumblers sometimes, it can be troublesome, but after a while you get used to it.
