Police started its job

Romania
March 23, 2020 5:17pm CST
Starting from today 10:00 PM, people are forbidden to get outside, without any plausible explanation. It is forbidden to get out between 10:00 PM and 06:00 AM, and in the meantime it is advisable to stay at home. I have just seen a video from the city which is the capital city of the county I live in that it is filled with police cars and they stop everybody. I think many people will be fined. I am glad to see that police does its job. I hope people will learn from this. Does police fine people in your area for not respecting the rules?

I agree with that regulation and I think it is really effective to halt he spread of the corona virus.

Here people who aren't in quarantine are allowed to go out. They ask people to stay inside as much possible, but it is still possible to go out to buy food and medicine. The police fines people if they find more than 10 people together.

@rappeter13 3 or 5 might be the next step here, so far the limit is 10. The first couple of days the police didn't fine people they just warned them, but now they fine people if they see more than 10 people together.

@Porcospino If you were the police, would you warn them or start fining right away?

I am glad they are patrolling areas now - I don't know exactly how strict it is yet, but I do see the police cars here and there. No curfew here yet.

@rappeter13 Oh gosh. I hate to say that history says this is the natural progression of human behavior in times like this . . . the opportunists will always take advantage of curfews. Geez, not even a virus will stop them!

@much2say Unfortunately, it is. But the problem is that many burglars have returned from all across Europe. They were doing the same before the boarders were opened, too, which means before Romania was accepted in the EU.

Now, they also have to deal with the increasing number of burglaries that happened in the last 24 hours. Things are getting nasty here.

@Nevena83 That is great! I just read that in this city I mentioned there were more than 40 burglaries in the last 24 hours. The thieves and burglars have returned in large numbers the last days.

We don't have anything like that going on. At least not yet. For now, people are just being recommended to stay home; it's not mandatory.

I was referring to the new rules, related to the corona virus restrictions. I am surprised they do it, even from day one.
