We are working at the school part days today and tomorrow.
We will also be subject to be called in. Even if we find other work, until our contracts are up this has to be our priority because we are getting paid for our time even when at home.
There is not a lot to do. I miss my kiddos that I work with, but they are better off safe at home.
Actually we have done some preparation for study units that will be used next school year. The teacher had printed them off and laminated them before Spring Break. We might as well do the prep work and have it all ready.
My other teacher, John, had surgery right before break. He had compressed discs in his neck. He is not able to come back yet. My teacher HC is going to have to prepare his learning packets and study plans, so that is why we are helping today as well.
I will be paid whether I go in or not, but I will go and help. Then I will know more what to expect next year. I will not be out of the loop.

If I'm not mistaken, Kansas was the first to just outright cancel schools for the rest of the year, atleast going to schools. It's going to be tough for everyone as parents have to become teachers while balancing their own responsibilities.

I did not think we were first, but on the other hand, I did not think about it much. The teachers will meet online with them day to day and will make it work. Some will do it better than others. I think they will be grateful for some structure to their day.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Some people "get it". I do as much as I can to keep hubby out of stores etc. He is older than me and more fragile. Of course he reminded me I am also considered vulnerable.

@GardenGerty I know it's going to be difficult for everyone involved. I've seen some pictures of how some of the college type lectures are being handled. There is one professor who had a doll sitting in the classroom because he didn't want to lecture to an empty room.
Underneath that photo was the caption "He is the reason I am social distancing." It brought tears to my eyes because the man is clearly older, and atleast that student understood the reasoning for it.

Do you know how long that will last? It is good to have things you like to do at home.

Our shut down is to go to May 31, so unless the governor lifts that order, we will not.

I'm glad I looked at this post because I've of your words reminded me of something I wanted to do and that is get a protector sheet to put our work papers into in case were stopped going to it from work. Our state went into lockdown on Monday this week. The word you used was laminated.
Some places here told their workers they would be paid whether they worked out not so many decided on the free ride. One place was the Starbucks near my job. One person still wanted to work but there weren't enough so they closed instead.
All the schools, bars, and restaurants closed last week. Only places with drive thru it carry outs can have workers.
Have fun getting things ready for the next school year.

Yes, the 184 mandatory contact days requirement has been waived. We are able to keep our distances.

Our schools are closed until further notice. The state is now on lockdown and we are only supposed to venture out for necessities. I don't have a problem with that. Wish others would take it seriously.
My brother is the janitor at one of our elementary schools. He still has to go into work.

The janitors are important front line defense. I hope that we will get all of our air ducts cleaned.

At school? Just keeping our distance, lots of soap and water. We have always had hand sanitizer dispensers on the walls in all the rooms. Since we are mostly cleaning, sanitizing and such it will be good. If we use the copier we are required to use a sanitizing wipe before we begin and wipe it afterwards as well. I clock in and out on my own phone and limit the rooms I go into.

Our schools are closed. We were making packets of material for them to work on and setting them up with links to learn at home. The ones who like to learn will.

The kids will be taught remotely, and will keep on learning. It is hard as the parks are closed, the library is closed, etc. I am okay staying home. My grandkids were okay staying her on the property, but I had lots of resources for them. Not every home does. Also there were four of them to play with each other.
