The lockdown makes me do things I would not normally do

Since we are on enhanced quarantine or a lockdown due to the virus, yesterday I was looking for something productive to do, I found some leftover water based latex paint and decided that I would paint the tree trunks of the mango tree that holds our tree house ( looks more like a tree deck than a house) Water based latex paint would protect the tree bark and trunk from pests and other wood borers, it also makes the place brighter and give us that park like aura since I'm thinking of staying up there more now that it's getting hotter, put a cot or jungle hammock where I could take a nap instead of using AC in the bedroom. Me and my son also picked some ripe mangoes to eat and unripe ones for pickling to add to our food supply. How about you? Have you done anything extraordinary or productive lately because of the lockdown. Have any plans to pass away time and boredom till all of this is over? How do you spend a lot of idle time now besides mylotting?

What a great idea you are giving me, I am going to paint the trunk of my fig tree. I am not bored I also do a lot of things that I usually procrastinate.

If you look at the picture it gives the illusion that it's the main trunk whereas it's several feet above ground. Painting the base of your fig would make it look neat and at the same time give protection, just remember to use water based instead of thinner based that would do the tree more harm than good.

@LadyDuck it just looks wooden but the whole thing is made of steel, it came from ship's parts I won in a bidding when I was in my middle 20s, my late " Man Friday" that time was a man named " Muling " who was so good and artistic with anything I ordered him to create for me. The white part on the right is just a temporary plastic mat that I placed there. That part you see use to be a hatch that opens till the tree got so big and blocked it.

@louievill I am noticing the wooden platform at the left of the trunk. Thanks for reminding me to use a water based paint.

You are right that now we can do the things that we don't normally do. The lockdown is changing our lifestyle even temporarily.

everyone's at home since the lockdown so i bet electric bills have already increased. your tree deck would be a nice place to catch the breeze and enjoy a cool drink. and as you say the color will brighten up the place. what i just don't like are the insects though.

@hereandthere i know, a lot are trying to break quarantine by attempting to sell to my junkshop even if it's close. I just buy their aluminum and copper, they need to just hand it over the gate cause nobody is allowed inside and I disinfect what they sell to me with a bleach solution spray. I just buy their " tanso" and " alum" so people would have money to buy food although nobody yet would buy from me. It's limited only to old " suki" cause if I buy from every body, I might be the one who would run out of cash.

I think Meralco would just take 3 months average and bill us this month based on it. No meter readers! I'm planing to make a hanging garden of Babylon actually I had already tapped power on my solar line and the tree house and the roof top of the garage have solar lights already. Another thing I plan to make is a small metal incinerator to burn mango leaves and keep the insects out without endangering causing a fire

I love your tree idea! To be honest, I haven’t been bored a day in my life. I have everything in the house cleaned, organized, and in order. I’m doing more reading than ever and keeping in touch with family and friends.

I'm working from home so much of my time is doing work. On my days-off, I run errands. I'm trying to read my books. MyLot also takes some of my time as well.

Working from home is the most ideal thing to do now, those of us who make a modest income online should be thankful for it. Running errands means you have a quarantine pass?

@louievill yes, I have a quarantine pass although mine is in digital format. I just asked the person that I know that works in our baranggay office to send me the photo. I'll pick it up later today or tomorrow. Haven't had the chance to leave home due to work.

We do that too but now that it had become stricter in our country, finding ingredients to experiment on new dishes is getting more and more difficult.

I'm also now planting more edible plants and vegetables rather than repotting the ornamentals and orchids in the garden. I hope you get your seeds soon, time element seems to have suddenly become more important now when planting vegetables and edible plants to eat.

You have great projects! It is so nice to stay beneath that big mango tree, and you have a steady supply of fruits n these critical times. I have so many things to do too here at home. I cook, do the laundry, water the plants, a lot of things to do, never gets me bored while on lockdown!
