Look What I Found

Found a chipping sparrow nest and one egg! So excited. The first bird egg in my backyard for this year. They usually lay 2-3 eggs. We will see. Was out walking in my backyard with my phone earlier. I found a few empty nests. Then I saw a bird fly out of a cypress tree. I slowly walked over and looked inside the tree and there it was. A nest with a beautiful blue egg. I snapped the photo then got out so I wouldn't scare the bird away too far. I will share more photos of the bird and hopefully more eggs soon.

Wow! That was amazing. Why is the egg color blue? The usual eggs that I know have white colors. I will look forward to your follow-up post about this subject. This is really interesting.

Many birds lay blue eggs. I see brown ones, green ones, gray, spotted ones, all kinds.

No, it has little specks on it, it is a chipping sparrow. I watched her fly off the nest. It has the same robin egg blue color though.

@Juliaacv Me too. I am looking when I go out. And I have to be careful. Birds can get aggressive this time of year. As they should with their babies.

@CarolDM I just did chores and spotted a robin gathering stuff for a nest.I laughed at her because she was trying to get the netting off the hay bale. She would take off and get yanked back

@CarolDM next time, I would like to take pictures just to remember it. Manila is just a few minutes away, and with the place being urbanized, a sight of wildlife is a breath of fresh air.

That's neat. I used to have birds that nested on a old bug zapper on my porch, but that was stressful having them that close to the house. I was always afraid they would fly in, they would sometimes get startled if you turned on the light or opened the door at night. I took it down.

@CarolDM Yeah, not sure if they were wrens, possibly, small not very atrractive brownish birds.
