New Roommate?

Wanna hear something weird?
Yesterday afternoon I took a nap. When I woke up someone was sitting on my bed. I have blackout curtains so the room was fairly dark. I thought it was Pretty. (For anyone who doesn't know, PrettyEvil is my daughter.)
I ask her what she was doing. She didn't say anything but did get up and walked out through the door. She didn't bother opening the door, first.
At first it freaked me out. Then I decided I must have been dreaming.
Last night I was vacuuming the hall and saw the same lady, through the barely open door, sitting at Pretty's desk.
I was trying to see who she was when Pretty came up behind me and ask what I was doing.
I asked who is the person sitting in your chair. She looked... nobody was there.
Have you ever had a spooky encounter?
Photo is PrettyEvil.

@DaddyEvil I often talk to the living spirits in my house. I am upset today because they have hidden one pepper mill that was on the shelf on the kitchen and I am unable to locate where they have moved it. It happens time by time, objects that disappear for days and then they are back to their initial position.

@LadyDuck True, in one house we lived in the ghost was always moving things around and/or hiding them.
But he usually didn't bring them back unless/until we ask him to return them.

Thank you, Anna. Pretty asked me to buy that dress for her last summer. Since she rarely leaves the house, I ask why she wanted it. She told me she wanted to look pretty, so I bought it for her.
Several of the houses Pretty and I have lived in had other occupants living there with us. I treat them as if they were real and they ignore me, for the most part.

@crazyhorseladycx I don't think this ghost talks. I did ask her what she was doing when I caught her watching me sleep.
You're probably right. I might have told her she needs to help with water and sewer bills if I had heard it flush!
Love and hugs to you, Dearheart.

Yes, several times. Sometimes sitting on my bed while I'm asleep and a few time while I was in the bathroom. I could see someone's shadow moving back and forth on the other side of the door so asked Pretty if I needed to hurry up. She called from her room and ask what I was talking about... I finally yelled at the ghost that I'd better hear the toilet flush after she was done if she wanted in there so badly. *sigh*

Thank you, Ruby.
I think I scared the ghost away a few days ago. I didn't mean to but I was getting tired of her pacing back and forth in front of our bathroom door when either one of us was in there... I yelled at her. (I told her I'd better hear the toilet flush after I left there if she needed it so bad. I haven't seen her since then.)

@RubyHawk Pretty has been watching me out of the corner of her eyes since I first saw the ghost. She's never appeared and let Pretty see her.
Maybe it's just as well she's gone.

@shaggin Why, hon?
Having a ghost as a roommate is almost exactly the same as having a friend staying with you... well, a friend who is almost always gone somewhere and doesn't help with rent or bills. (That's how I've always treated them, too. Except the ghost we used to live with (at another house) would hide things from us until we ask for them back. He made it kinda interesting living with him.)

Yes, it is... or was. (I'm not real sure now.)
The ghost made me mad a few weeks ago by pacing in front of the bathroom door when either Pretty or I were in there. (We could see the shadow crossing back and forth under the door.) I yelled and told her if she needed the bathroom that badly, I'd better hear her flush when she was done.
I haven't seen her since then.

Well, hello! Long time, no see!
And how has life been treating you?
Pretty and I are doing fine. We had to move out of the house we'd been renting for 22 years after the owner was told he had terminal cancer and sold all his rental units. We found this house last October and moved in. This is the first inkling we've had that we aren't living here alone.

Life has been going ok, same job, same house. Am on paid leave atm, and we arent sure when they are going to reopen the schools.

I did... The next door neighbor has lived in his house for almost 30 years... he said in the time he'd owned the house next door nothing had happened to anyone living here.
I looked the house up online and again, found nothing unusual was reported... no deaths and no disappearances.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened in a house my daughter and I lived in, but it is the first time there were no deaths related to what was observed...

@jrlcentral Don't worry, ridiculous is fine. Believe me, I'm used to it... and sometimes I'm the cause of the silliness!
The last time we had a ghost, he just wanted to tease us and play with things in the house. He was fun! The ghost in a friend's house, not so much... He opened and closed the front door, clumped up the stairs and got into bed. The covers would stay raised for a few minutes and then would fall flat. After that, it was okay for the regular people to climb into the bed and go to sleep. (I refused to get in the bed until after he'd gone. )
None we've encountered before wanted us to help them or anything else. They were just there.

@DaddyEvil Before I give my response, I got to warn you that it may sound ridiculous. so here goes.
A nun that I know of said, these spirits can feel who can sense them or see them... since this is not the first time that happened, this means you have a 'gift' and they know it. She said these spirits need help in crossing over... maybe they want to send a message to somebody or something...
But before you start talking to them, I think you need to talk to someone who knows more about this.... a priest, a shaman ... I don't know what your beliefs are...

Hello DE. Good to be in touch with you again. I think you are ready to break the spirit barrier and enter the realms beyond. Nice thing you were not afraid. Was this ghost black? Did it have red lips? I am getting freaked out sitting alone in my room. But maybe Pretty is tricking you!

Hi Gofsey. It has been a long time since we've spoken on myLot. I hope you've been doing well since we last spoke.
Pretty and I have lived with ghosts before. (I will admit I was a bit freaked out because she was watching me sleep but that was really the only problem I had. She just took me by surprise.)
This ghost was a young (early twenties, at a guess) woman. She was Caucasian with dark hair and was wearing a dress.
No, Pretty believes in ghosts but I don't think she can see them. She never said anything when we lived with a ghost who liked to play tricks and hide things from us.

@gofsey It felt freaky... even when I thought it was Pretty watching me.
True, although, a friend of mine lives in a house with a nosier ghost. He opens the front door, even if it's locked. Clumps up the stairs to the bedroom and climbs into bed. The sheets look like someone is under them for a few minutes and then they fall flat again. (I wouldn't get into the bed until after the sheets fell flat again!)

@DaddyEvil Yes, DE it has been a long time. Corona is ruling the world. Coming to the ghosts, it sounds freaky to have one sit and watch you. Luckily, I do not see ghosts. The ghost is pretty naughty to hide things. Since she doesn't make any noise, you will not be disturbed much.

Hey DaddyE, been awhile. Glad to see you here.
You weren't hallucinating. That was a ghost for sure. But don't dare talk to that thing. I've been told that talking to them means acknowledging their presence and they love that so they will stay more. If you want it gone, just ignore it.
Several years ago I wrote a discussion here in mylot about that spooky experience of mine. I didn't see anything but I heard somebody humming a lullaby. At midnight, nobody was awake, nobody was even there to speak of. I even searched for the voice but it's nowhere. I saw nobody at all.

Hi Toni! I'm happy to see you here, too!
Pretty and I have lived in houses that had other residents in them before this... I've never had a ghost that ignored me like this one did, though. (The last time we had a ghost he hid things all the time. It took me a while to figure out what was going on since I couldn't really see him... but after that, I just had to ask him to return whatever object went missing and he'd return it. Sometimes faster than other times, but still... I'd get the object back.)
I'm not really concerned if the ghost sticks around or not, as long as she doesn't scare us or anything bad like that.
Hmmm... maybe your ghost wanted the house to him/herself, so was trying to put you to sleep? *grinning and teasing you*

No, we moved into this house last November.
Normally, neither one of us is here for very long at a time. Maybe we've just been too busy to notice we had a roommate. I had a severe allergic reaction a few days ago that confined me to the house and Pretty has been sticking close in case I have trouble again.

@BearArtistLady That is very interesting information. Thank you for telling me.
This is not the first time we've lived in a house with an "extra" roommate living there. Almost 30 years ago we house-sat for a friend for seven years. Our friend had bought the house in an estate sale after the original owner was killed in an accident in his own driveway. His name was George.
George was very playful, often hiding things from us and later putting them back exactly where he'd taken them from. Sometimes that was funny and sometimes not so funny... Once, I panicked over an item going missing from a place I'd hidden it in. Another friend came to take the item off my hands but when he searched my hiding spot the item was obviously not there.
Suffice it to say, after asking George to put the item back, he did so... My friend was happy to receive it and I was just as happy to have it out of my house!
While living there our friend ask us to do some modifications to the house, which we did. One thing we did was add a door where one had never been before. I was using that room as my bedroom. As long as I was in the room, the door could be open or closed and nothing happened. But if I closed the door when I left the room, George would start rattling the door as if he wanted in or out of the room.
I asked a local carpenter what might be causing the rattling door and he was so intrigued with my question that he volunteered to come check the room for drafts and air leaks that might be making the new door rattle like that. Apparently, my bedroom had no air leaks or drafts of any kind.
When the carpenter ask if I was trying to play a joke on him I suggested he sit in the next room and I'd close the door and join him. As soon as I closed the door and sat down with the carpenter the door started rattling. The carpenter got up, opened the door and checked all around the edges of the door frame. I ask what he was looking for and he told me he wanted to find my "trick gadget" that caused the door to rattle like that. I remained seated as he did a thorough search. When he admitted he couldn't find anything he closed the door and sat back down with me... the door started rattling again.
He laughed and told me to enjoy my ghost!
