Just Shut Up Mr.President!

Trump should let the adults in the room give the daily briefings about the coronavirus. Each time he opens his mouth only muddles the situation with his misinformation and outright lies. While he continues gaslighting the nation about the actual stage of the pandemic, Here are some text messages I received recently from my sister in law who is a nurse at New York's Mount Sinai hospital. "The situation in NYC is just as you saw in the Elmhurst video. Mount Sinai as of yesterday has 800+ cases. They have started tripling patients in a room, thinking that it will help speed up the care of patients with one donning and doffing of PPE. It will but not good for the staff having to stay that long in the room." "The hospital has started erecting patient pods and tents in all their empty spaces, like lobbies, hallways, courtyards, etc. PPE is still in short supply, they are now collecting used item to "recycle", sterilize, autoclave, etc" "We are expecting Pediatric cases to start going up as positive pregnant women and their partners are popping up in labor and delivery." "The hospital will be mobilizing staff soon, not many volunteered so most are "forcibly" being relocated to areas of greater need. Nurses, doctors, medical assistants, secretaries and even my sonographers." So who are you gonna believe, Trump or the front liners in the battle against the virus?

It's clear that Trump doesn't understand what he's being told. People have to dumb down things for him so much, and then he goes on television and repeats the dumb downed things he's told. It's scary, to be honest.

It is scary because lives are at stake. I think he understands the situation but his only concern is about himself and what he can get out of it. He is exploiting the pandemic for all its political advantage to bolster his chance at reelection.

@josie_ Yes, he is definitely doing that. It's clear to me that he wasn't concerned with it when it first started. He expected it to go away, or even if he didn't, he didn't think it would get this bad. He waited too long and now we are having to scramble to try to get the supplies that the medical professionals need. Now he's still talking about opening everything back up by easter and that's just not going to happen. He should have shut us all down weeks before now, but instead it was up to the individual governors to do it.

@Susan2015 From sources that don't lie (though I'll admit they may stretch the truth sometimes) or aren't in the pocket of the republican party...

It's far past time for the media to stop featuring his public displays of infantilism and ignorance. All they need to do is tell us that he said something stupid, or horrific again, and then let the experts talk. Trump should be ignored for the dangerous troll that is is.

Thankfully they've stopped showing his briefings and other tantrums and tirades live and in their entirety. I agree about the ear pollution, My ears can't take much more!

Some news media are only showing clips of his daily briefing minus the sound. We've already reached the tipping point of Trump fatigue. Unfortunately his cult of followers are still as motivated by irrational enthusiasm for him.

You should perhaps not have given the name of the hospital to not put your sister in trouble. More I see what does Trump since he is elected, more I think that he would have been a very good leader... a bit before Columbus discovered America.

People would think I'm making it up if I didn't mention the name of the hospital. What is more worrisome is my sister in law's exposure to the virus without proper protection. Already another relative in NYC who is also a nurse has tested positive for the virus and is now on self-quarantine.

I know how the situation is, my brother was a retired doctor in Milan (Italy) and he has been called back to help. The situation is the same in the big Sacco Hospital, they are recycling used items, they are placing tents... they must decide who are too sick to be saved, it's sad, but there are no more ventilators.

@josie_ You are surely worried for your relatives as well as I am for my relatives in Italy. For the moment they are all well, I fear for my brother, he is not more young and he is not perfectly healthy. Take care, we will get out of this horrible moment.

Only the governor of New York has that authority not the president.

@mrki444 _Yes he is commander in chief. But unless martial rule is declared the military cannot interfere in civilian affairs.

Saw some bad articles in the news about how Trump in deny about what he just said a few days ago. (He is getting too old for the job.)
