I am a proud Ilonggo, always have been. And this time of the crisis, Iloilo has made me even prouder.
A lot of people in this country are praising the city I live in and wished they reside here. Why?
1. Instead of waiting in agony for the COVID testing kits from the government, Iloilo procured thither own through donations from Ilonggo businessmen and wealthy family.
2. We have our own RITM accredited testing facility which means getting results ASAP as it skips the process of sending specimens to RITM.
3. Iloilo has established 240 community kitchens in baranggays with day care facilities to make sure no one dies of hunger.
4. Kitchen patrol has been deployed to make sure frontlines are able to have free meals.
5. Dormitories were provided for the frontlines taking care of Persons under investigation, persons under monitoring, and confirmed patients to make sure they are comfortable and have a decent place to stay while fighting to end this crisis.
6. Food assistance were provided to the most vulnerable sectors.
7. Ilonggo nurses and local designers working and in hand to produce PPEs. If we can't buy them, we make them.
8. Buses were deployed to make sure frontline health workers are able to report to work.
We are staying safe and we are all uniting to fight this crisis. We don't sit and wait for help, we help.

Not only the frontlines but also the people who don't have any source of income. Bread are distributed to those people everyday other than the money and food packs. Lock down here has been extended until the 30th of the month.

@toniganzon It's good they have food distribution every day. I'm sorry it's been extended.

@DianneN I really do. I have attached a photo of our frontlines wearing Money Heist inspired PPE's provided by our local designers.
Our city has been trending on twitter for weeks now.

Unfortunately they don't. They wait for the national government to extend help instead of doing what they can while waiting. My city is known as the city of love and that's because people in this city always extend hands to help others. And we are located in the heart of the country too.

Exactly. Twitter is very noisy right now and praising Iloilo City for being then Wakanda of the Philippines.
The rich and the business people don't just stay in there house. They extend help in every way they can. Supermarkets in Iloilo start their day with a solemn prayer to protect all the employees who are working that day. There's unity in the city that makes us exceptional.
Neighbors help each other.

That is very wonderful to hear, and has earned my admiration! Too bad more cities and communities don't step up in the face of crisis and work together to solve problems. Good for Iloilo for leading by example!

True that's why I always feel safe living in this city.
Several years ago it was at the top as the most livable city in this country.

Awesome food, great people. Most of the rich people are from Iloilo City including the Lopezes. But you would never hear Ilonggos brag how rich the people are here. But we rise up during the time of crisis.
