To catholics out there, just thinking.. You are familiar with the story. After making the deal with the high priests, Judas would have to kiss Jesus so the soldiers would know who they will arrest. But doesn't everybody know who is the Jesus among those 12 people gathered? (Well, 13 including judas himself).

Firstly, the ministry of Christ focused only in Galilee and he only been to Jerusalem for a short period. And since He was always accompanied by a crowd and he preached at a distance, facial identification is hard. And do note that they don't have TV or social media back then. Hence the soldiers really have no idea what Jesus looked like, and they needed Judas' treachery to identify him.

@__iVl___Here's a second clure, about Matthew 16:13-20 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[b] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[c] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[d] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[e] loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah. See how people are attempting to identify Christ? Jesus reputation made people thought he was someone else. This also made him harder for the soldiers to identity.

@Mamerto32 please don't quote literature. And your explanation really does not explain anything, don't you think?

The Bible gives no explanation as to why Judas proceeded in that manner. We can only speculate. It may just show the contempt that Judas had developed for Jesus.

@__iVl___ You made me take a bit of time and look at what the Bible says about the occasion. I found the words of Jesus interesting. Luke 22:48 (KJV) 48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? It may show the hypocrisy of Judas. A kiss is an expression of love and affection but here the kiss of Judas is used to betray him.

Yes, you are right. Never knew that is the answer i was looking for until you said it. Most of the time, some people tend to explain things according to what they believe in. There is a certain bias in it.
