In my opinion, I feel French is a sexist language. Why do I feel that? Simple, all nouns have a gender. They are either masculine or feminine.
So, let me provide some examples:
1. "Person"= feminine: all people are women???
2. "professeur" or teacher= masculine: What, all teachers are men???
3. "city" or une cité: Feminie: Yup all cities are women?
4. "un animal" or Animal: Masculine - okay that one is true :)
What is your opinion?

teacher = masculine
city = feminine
animal = masculine
what could be the difference?...

I guess because I don't fully understand the language. In English, I can't think of any terms that are only feminine or masculine.
So, referring to a toilet is just a toilet, its not a female nor a male.
