The Truth….

I remember, while I was young my grandma used to teach me this lesson about truth- that if you will speak truth, you need not remember anything because you aren’t manipulating the statements. But as I grew, I realized that truth isn't something that is so easily acceptable, sometimes it can be something very hurtful, so along with truth the delivery also matters…. To this I remember what Dumbledore said in Harry Potter- “ The truth” ,"It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution.”

Sometimes even a lie is more powerful than truth when you are trying to help someone or for a good cause. I think you mean the similar thing

I was just having this exact same discussion last night! People who lie get caught up in their lies and can't remember what lies they have told people. It makes no sense to not tell the truth, even if it is painful or embarrassing.

I have said this for a long time. I might tell a white lie to save someone's feelings but otherwise I tell the truth. As you say, you don't have to remember what you said if you tell the truth.
