Leaving Florida

Last week JetBlue airlines confirmed our flight for June 5th, but changed departure times. Okay.
Yesterday, they canceled our flight completely, but stated they would help us find other flights to other airports.
No thanks! We were planning on canceling them, anyway.
We will be doing what my brother recently did, driving straight to Connecticut, our “vacation” home up north. We will pack sandwiches and water, pay cash for gas, and use restrooms with masks on and use our own antibacterial soaps and hand sanitizers. If we get tired, we will put our car seats into the bed position and use our own pillows and blankets.
That’s what we will do, but not yet.

@LadyDuck
People would be wary of air travel for a long time.
Airlines might have to operate with just 30 to 40% capacity.
Of course, this is something that they don't like as it means losses, but it might be better than no operations.

I am so glad to hear that you will not be flying home. Those that choose to take flights when this pandemic is still running rampant are playing a high game of risk.
There was a woman and her 13 year old daughter that recently took a cruise even though people thought she was out of her mind for doing so. She did go on the trip, came home, stayed home for 2 weeks, and thankfully did not have the virus. Why she put herself and her daughter at risk is beyond me.

@DianneN she used the fact that she works hard for her money and didn't want any virus to scare her into enjoying herself. I was so shocked to read her comments that I had to hide the conversation entirely.

I’m a germaphobe as it is, and would not want to be on any plane now.
Thank goodness that stupid woman didn’t get sick with the virus! It’s beyond me why she would put herself and her 13 year old daughter at risk, too. Covidiots! They are all over the place.

@kobesbuddy They seem to be. Just living in our house and yard would be social distancing. We live on over 2 acres and all the neighbors have to be on a minimum of 1 1/2 acres.

@DianneN And in Connecticut, the people are probably practicing social distancing.

I think that you better stay put in Florida for a good time.
The conditions in NY city and nearby is not good, as indicated in the news.
Also the trip would be very long and tiring.

So the situation in your vicinity is more dangerous, it seems.

Have a safe and happy trip if and when you decide to embark on it. Is the place you are going to safer?

@DianneN it’s a shame if they tax you for something that is out of your control.

I'm going to call the governor and tell him to close all the roads out of Florida until the end of June so that you can't leave yet!

@DianneN I'm glad you're not going anywhere anytime soon!
I'm feeling alright, not great, but not horrible either. My head and body are still achy, I'm still coughing, and I'm still short of breath, but I haven't felt like I've had a fever today, and I was somewhat less fatigued than I have been all week. I'm hoping to turn the corner on this thing by the end of the weekend.

It sounds like others who have gone through this and survived. Yay!
Just take it slow..

We will make a decision by the end of the month.
We have way too many covidiots living here.
One actually rang my doorbell and knocked on my door this morning.
I told her I’m not going to open my door. She needed help with something, so I explained it through the door.

Ah, I had wondered about you guys going back as the time is near. It's good that you're planning now! It's a long drive, but it would be the safest option - I wouldn't want to be in an airport or plane in the next couple months either.

@DianneN You have much more room and privacy on your vacation property . Wow, that lady has nerve (I can picture you sanitizing the door bell and door right after she left!). Some people just still don't get the seriousness of all this. I know you guys will think out the safest and smartest way possible to get back.

We would feel much safer in our own home and yard.

She’s one that sits out next to others on the beach all day long. No thanks!
We will decide what to do by the end of the month.

@DianneN many people have been using shopping bags to put over their hands while using the pumps too. They toss it in the trash after use.
