I don't think I would make it I know when hurricane Katrina hit I was a total wreck no power, for a day so I know I could not do a month, especially being without my computer and plus I am a diabetic so I would need some kind of fridge for my insulin. I would leave and go find somewhere else that got power so I could still I use my internet/computer and have my insulin (cold)that's what I did when Katrina hit went to a hotel.

Experience life. I don't think boredom would be a probem (though I could survive for four hours with my laptop on battery power!) Particularly it would things like food, and not being able to cook over the oven. I’d use my Dad’s outdoor grill though it’d be a lot more hazardous!

People in cities who are used to gadgets, tv's, dvd's, computers, kitchen electric gadgets find it extremely difficult. But a place like India, there are thousands of villages they have not seen electricity or any alternate power except kerosene lit lamps, firewood lit fire etc. They have peaceful life.

i wish this question was asked to a villager who has not seen a light bulb in whole of his life.

They have seen bulbs (except tribals) and they just cannot afford the electricity charges. That is the reason they want to use the kerosene and firewood.

Well, during Katrina we had to go with out power for 2 weeks, and it was really bad, but we survived, so I think we could of gone a month, but thank God we didn't have to.

You'd be surprised what you could manage to do. Recently we moved into a new, totally unfinished house. I would never have believed that I could survive without air conditioning, water, a working toilet, cable TV, our king bed, internet....... But, we did survive very well. Maybe we weren't quite as comfortable, but when we finally started getting some of the amenities we were used to having, we appreciated them far more than we ever had. We still don't have cable TV, and we're not so sure we want to start paying for it again. We're doing just fine with rabbit ears and the network channels.

Hell yeah i've lived with out electricity before and used an out house. Took a bath in the creek below the house every Saturday.Washed my clothes on a washboard hanging them out on the clothes line to dry. had to chop some wood and build a fire in order to get some breakfast before going to the fields to work untill sundown. Yeah I could make it ok. would miss my mylot though.

Of course I would live - but poorly. No power for a month would mean something was terribly wrong. I would probably be very depressed over whatever it was that was wrong.
I know how to survive without power. I used to visit my Grandmother in the rural South as a child during a period when she did not have electricity. She had kerosene lamps, wood burning stoves, outdoor toilets, and transportation was an horse-driven wagon. She later acquired all modern luxuries including an automobile. But I still remember the early "good old farm days."

Yes..I would proably get really depressed..Because I use electricity for everything,Water,Television,Computer,Radio,Phone... I think I would go crazy, and be depressed all in the same...I would become A nutso person, and proably be beating my head into the wall for fun after about the first week, because I know I cannot live without my computer,it is one of my worst addictions, and so is the phone,Because I love to talk to people, and get caught up on everything, and I also love to listen to music,on my Radio,While I am on my computer, because my computer does not have speakers,so I use the radio...I may be able to survive...But I think in the end...I would rip my hair out..Beat my head into the wall for fun....And proably get mentally retarded, because I would not have anything to do for so long, that would help work my mind, and after A while board games, and so on,and so forth with stuff like that, begin to fry my brain, and without technology,I would not be able to keep my brain active, and my mind would mentally shut down, and proably after the first,or second week...I would lose my mind...I know from somewhat experience, and the ower was only off for about 2 hours...I thought I was going to go mad,and go nuts, because I did not have my radio to listen to,nor A computer to talk on,nor A telephone to call people on,and talk to people on,and get caught up on everything, and I did not have no water, and I think I would also lose my mind,Because the way it is where I live, the power had to be on for you to have water, and run the water,so I would lose my mind because,I cannot go long without take A shower,I hate feeling dirty...So my conclusion is...I would proably be able to live...But I would lose my mind..

i would be in heaven without any electric"devices"to help me forget what real living is all about.more people should read. and renew the core family values such as dinner table discussions and family interaction.

I would get completely depressed. I'm in love with my girlfriend who just went off to college a little over a month ago, so I depend on the phone and internet to keep us close. If I didn't have her in my life, then I think I could get by for a month, even though I'm not sure I'd enjoy it too much.

I absolutly love this question! Yes we could survive and I think it would be fun. I think it would bring a family closer together, everyone is always so busy doing their own thing which usually involves electricity. When ever a storm hits and we loose electricty we have to all get together to see what we are going to do next. I kinda like it! :)

Yes, I could live without power in my house for a month; however, I wouldn't be living there. I'd clean out my fridge and freezer, use what I could, throw the rest away, and go check into a hotel. We have been without power after hurricanes here in South Florida, but never for a month. A week was way too long as far as I'm concerned.

Of course, I'd be able to live. Street people do it all the time. But it might depend on the circumstances. If the whole city was out of power, it would be more difficult, and if the whole country were out of power, even more difficult... and the major part of the world, because of some nuclear winter scenario, Ooops. Maybe not for long.

I would probably get really depressed. The thought of going without my computer just scares me. I am really dependent on electricity to do almost everything in my daily life. Especially because of my son and all of his needs. Although I love board games and all the neanderthal entertainment I will just stick the the tech we have now days

Its sad but I think I would get really bored. I certainly couldn't live without the internet for more than a few days. i do have nights with my boyfreind when we turn the telly off and talk and play games but I don't think I could do it for more than a few days. maybe I should give it a go to make me realise there is more out there and more to do than just watch telly or surf the net.

One time when I was younger we lost power for maybe nearly a week.. it seems like it was at least three or four days. At the time, at that age, it was pretty exciting. No school, and I had plenty of time to read! ^_^ I actually enjoyed it, as far as I remember. nowdays, if we lose power for even an hour, I am going crazy wanting the internet back. I don't know if I could make it for an entire month. I swear that I would want to pack up and move to a state that had electricity just so that I could get my internet fix, loL! ^_^
