Emergency Situations

Electric line sparked outside are house, I heard the neighbors screaming followed by blackout. Thankfully, my hubby just arrived and he called the electricity provider. The electrician went over and checked out the situation. While they are fixing in a different part of the line, the light bulbs suddenly sparked in what seem like a fire ensuing. We scurried out of the house. My hubby went to turn off the main switch. When everything was fixed and everything is working fine, my hubby told me how to turn off the main switch and to do this when there is a situation like that. It was so scary because our house is made of very light materials that would easily burn down in a blink of an eye. Edit: I forgot to mention I was very thankful to the electrician who responded in just a matter of minutes even if it is evening. My hubby gave then 200pesos as a token to have some snack and drink. Deep sigh. What an experience.

What would be the possible cause? Thank God that it did not cause fire.

The electrician saw the damaged part, he keeps saying neutral. I'm still trembling right now. It was so scary because there were sparks all over the neighbors were screaming and the lights even of neighbors flickers.

@ZedSmart The electrician did fix it. Things are working fine now but I'm still anxious.

Oh Thank goodness everything is ok. Yes. Your husband is right for teaching you how to turn off the main switch when a situation like that happens again atleast you know what to do.

Luckily your husband understands electricity, and it's very appropriate to turn off the switch.

Yes, he remained calm. He was trained in the military for the worst so I believe that is part of it.

That also happened to us once. Thanks to a neighbor who illegally connected a jumper wire.

@yoalldudes that's why our telephone is ready whenever I see them loitering near a power line.
