Remembering Gracie

This is Gracie, she was waiting for me to throw her toy for her to fetch. I think I took this in 1994.

Meet my very sweet Gracie, she's the pup that started my trio of 2 dogs and a kitty. Her early months weren't very loving although she did live with her mom in a large kennel for the first 3 months of her life. Sibling bought her when she was 3 months old and put her in the back yard all by herself where she freaked out, naturally. I remember mom puppy sitting her a few times and she was so happy just to get the attention we'd give her. Sibling bought a 6 week old husky puppy about a month later then complained to mom that Gracie was too rough with him so sibling wanted to give her back to the kennel but they would not give a refund. Guess who asked to give her a home At the time I took her in I still had Rebel and Sandi whom she knew because I used to take my dogs with me when ever I visited sibling or mom and Gracie got to play with them when we'd visit. We lost Rebel about 18 months after I took her in. Then, when Gracie was about 2 years old I adopted a kitten, Spunky, and Gracie raised him. Then when she was just over 3 years old I adopted Sophie, Gracie and Spunky raised her. I did have a hand in the raising but because I worked it was mostly Gracie who did the raising. I was so lucky she was my pup. Because of her I had the best trio anyone could ever ask for. She was born in September 1991 and graced my life from late 1992 until 2001, she had parkinsons disease in her later years so after watching 2 episodes of convulsions I felt I had to ease her misery. It's still the saddest day of my life other than losing my parents. So, rather than go cry I think I'll listen to this song again.

@rebelann Reminds me of the movie A Dog's Way Home. First the puppy had a "Mother" cat, then later she was a "Mother" to an orphaned cat

Poor Gracie, I am so sorry she had Parkinson's. I know how sad it is to have to put a pet to sleep.

Finally @LadyDuck I can't imagine living in the kinds of pain I have heard of and doctors unable or unwilling to end their suffering.

@rebelann We feel bad, but the final decision is always to avoid to make them suffer and I am glad that we have this options for humans too here.

Yes, it really was. Whenever my sibling would visit me Gracie would get so excited and when the visit was over and sibling left she'd be so sad. It never changed and sibling was heartless about it.

She was my buddy but anytime my sibling would have wanted her back she would have gone gladly, she was that loyal @DianneN
