Rescued a Grackle On My Deck

Rescued a bird on my deck. A grackle (in the black bird family) flew into my patio door. The noise was so loud it sounded like a baseball hit it. I thought oh no, a bird. I slowly walked over and the grackle was on his back.
I got the broom and eased halfway out the patio door. I nudged him a little with the broom. Nothing. Came back in, watched him, so afraid he would die. Then he turned over and sat up.
He was in shock. I did the same thing with the broom a couple more times and waited. He finally flew away. Success. I have to think maybe something I did helped him.
A happy ending to this story thankfully. I don't care what kind of bird it is, or animal, I cannot watch them not make it.
This photo was taken back in the winter when my deck feeder was out. They are amazing birds up close.

@CarolDM i am not sure you are responsible happens even in fully drawn curtained windows. it is hard to see the glint of glass in the sunlight.

Those birds have an amazing plumage. Poor thing, I am glad that it recovered, it happens time by time, I rescued a small sparrow that hit a window. I took it up in my hand, wet his beak with a little water and placed in a safe area until it recovered.

That's happened to me before. It's been years ago but I can still remember how loud it was. I was thinking that there was no way the poor bird survived. But I was wrong. It was stunned for a while but it eventually sat up and flew away. I guess they are stronger than we think they are.
