Now HERE's an invention for the womenfolk

United States

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around why these aren't still in existence. Every woman would just die to own a pair of these rubber bloomers meant to.. well I'm not sure what they are meant to do. I mean, I guess it's good that this set of undergarments has holes for ventilation, especially since having your uhm.. your womanly stuff just resting against you all day would be disgusting enough without sweat forming on your thighs. My biggest question is this... No, ONE of my biggest questions is this. Why are they suggesting warm water to clean these when every woman knows it's cold water that gets the blood out? Also, why is (what sounds like) an building supply or industrial supply company making women's menstrual things? Just Ew! This is an ad from the 1920's. I found it on Dangerousminds.net

Oh my lord imagine with air vents or not they would be pretty uncomfortable not to mention smelly! But as the add says Every woman will want one. So enjoy them when they arrive!

I'd like to meet these "every woman" people, because I just don't think they exist. They remind me of the parachute pants i wore in the 90's. I think that's what they were called. The pair I had was yellow and there were drawstrings on the bottom to keep water away from your ankles.

@garymarsh6 The first thing I thought "smelly".

??? I am trying to understand what these bloomers do exactly . . . I mean, wouldn't rubber be super hot to wear? Thinking . . . still thinking .

Oh yes, I am sure that it would be like a furnace around the thighs! I do not think this would have been comfortable in the least!

Oh I'm almost sure it was. No woman in her right mind would invent that.

Cleaning blood from clothing you need cold water, but this thing is made in RUBBER, warm water is a lot better.

I didn't actually know that. I'm just glad it wasn't invented in this era.

@LadyDuck I would not have either. I would have sooner made my own sanitary napkins and made do.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That looks so uncomfortable, I would have not like to wear one.

Blood comes out of cloth better with cold water, but hot water is much more effective at killing bacteria. Personally, rubber sounds a little horrifying.

@SophiaMorros It made me think of the parachute type pants from the 80's and 90's. I owned a yellow pair and all I have to do is imagine them to recall how un-breathable they were.

Everyone. EVERYONE is telling me that I was wrong about the rubber. Yeah, I'm not a fan of any kind of clothes that feels constricting.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It's the lack of breathability that would drive me bonkers!

To be honest, it makes me think of a style of pants from the late 80's and early 90's. I forget what they were called, but they were just as heat inducing.

I don't know if I'm being a bit dense, but where does the blood go?? Do you think there's some sort of gusset, or does it just pool around above the knees?? Whatever, they are ridiculous!

I feel like it just pools around and sits there. I don't understand it either. Would be nice if I could find a picture of an actual pair somewhere..
