Thrasher Bird Babies!

Taking a chance again today. Still trying to get a peek at the thrasher bird nest. I know the babies have hatched. But the male and female will not allow me to get close to the nest. They are being good parents. Today I decided I am going in. I want to make sure the nest is ok. So out I go with my camera. The female is sitting on the nest. She got off but stayed inside the tree. The squawking got louder and louder. I just knew the male would show up and they would both attack me. Was thinking about The Birds movie I watched the other night. I took a chance anyway and snapped a photo. It is not good but I could clearly see three babies. I will give her a break and try again tomorrow using the flash. I can still hear her squawking at me. Will probably have dreams tonight about it! Photo ©CarolDM

I always have a fern outside my door and a bird built a nest in it a few years ago. Everytime we would go outside the parents would go crazy and flutter and try to attack us when we were just walking by. I can imagine how you must have felt like :) I would love to see the baby birds, that is so exciting. Maybe you will get another picture of them tomorrow

Wrens build in plants like that close to the house often. I am gonna keep trying. I love seeing the babies. But the parents can be so aggressive. Welcome to the community!

@Niamh04 You are welcome. Finches are around here as well. Do you feed and water the birds?

@CarolDM Thank you, I am glad I found this place I think it was a finch that was building a nest in the fern. I kinda wish I would have another one this year, but so far no luck.

@CarolDM I have missed that. I wasn't really active in the past three days... or at least until yesterday...

Yes I was a little desperate last night. Nothing on to watch. The Sundance channel was running old Alfred Hitchcock movies. I had seen most of them, many...

That was not a good movie to have watched with mean birds near by

That's great that there are three babies. I saw The Birds. It was pretty terrifying.

Just so long as you don't end up in hospital after being beaten up by birds!

I can see them. Birds can be dangerous when they are defending their babies. My father found a baby crow. All the other crows wanted to attack him. They even attacked cats.
