Got my stimulus $1200

There it was in my bank account this morning. I just barely qualified for the full amount. I don’t need or want it. Not sure what it is supposed to “help” since it doesn’t even cover a month’s rent. I already transferred it to my savings account.

It is simply supposed to help give people a LITTLE something. Honestly, I have said time and time again that I FEEL for anyone suffering through no fault of their own in this with a loss of a paycheck. But people are supposed to have six months worth of living expenses saved up. It is not the government's responsibility to replace anyone's paycheck. It's the responsibility of the individual to look out for their own well being, financial or otherwise. The government can only do so much is all I am saying.

@Writingghost I have never heard of a tax imposed on gas for schools. Wow. That seems outrageous in any event. Money for schools is supposed to come from property taxes. Where on Earth in the country do you live?

@porwest I live in United States and in Utah - I was so shocked when we move from Montana to here. It's a whole different world.

That is correct. I would like your thoughts on this! Our state has over a $3.00 tax on gas right now for schools. Since schools are shut down, shouldn't we get a break on gas. We can't use much because we are in lock down but it might improve our mood.

Same here. I don't care about it. More care should have been taken that funds went to those really in need instead of a blanket most everyone receives it.

I think many governments could do it. Leaders have to be willing to give. the Us has a tax base as well.

@just4him I'm going to try not to buy any new clothes until the beginning of the next school year. I will wait until I am down to a size 10.

@NJChicaa in 1989 we paid $285.00 a month for a one bedroom and it had gone up to $300.00 before we moved.

Why did you get the money? Do *all* Americans who are under a certain limit get money now? If you neither need nor want it, you can donate it.

@NJChicaa Did it just magically appear in one of your bank accounts? I was expecting a check in the mail...or nothing.

@TheHorse It was directly deposited into my checking account because the IRS had that information from my federal tax return

The government here isn't doing that they are paying 80% of peoples salaries if their company has put them on furlough as mine has. So far haven't reached pay day so don't know how much I'll get but it should just about cover outgoings from bills.
