Cooking or Baking?

I never have been very good at cooking unless I have a recipe to go by. I do really well at baking because you usually have to measure ingredients for things to turn out right. I also love baking but don't care for cooking.
My brother rarely uses a recipe or measures ingredients. That's why he's better at cooking rather than baking. I guess he "eyes" things to know just how much to put in.
Which do you like better? Cooking, baking or both? Or do you like neither?

I enjoy both, but love cooking more.
I’m a gourmet cook, and find that I am enjoying cooking more these days.
As for baking, I only do it when we have guests. We aren’t big sweet eaters here, and I certainly don’t want to kill my husband with sugar or anything else for that matter.

Good for you, looking out for your husband. My wife does that for me, but I wound up with high blood sugar. I have eliminated most added sugar from my diet.

I like both..It seems like when I am baking though I always find I am forgetting an ingredient, and have to try to hustle it in, when it is already in the oven. I had to do it yesterday, I was making a pudding and forgot the salt..I had to try to stir it in after it had already started to cook..

@simone10 It's a little more exacting.

I have had recipe mistakes, thankfully, not lately

I like both and miss them because I can't stand for more than a couple minutes at a time. I tried a kitchen stool; but that didn't work very well. Sigh.

@simone10 Probably and you can't get close enough to the stove or counter.

I enjoy doing both.
I find that baking is a great stress reliever as I can take things, measure them, work them up, put them into the oven and then I have something new.
Cooking also involves measure for the most part. I will eyeball somethings, depending on what it is and how many times I've made it in the past.

I like having having a few things to cook that my recipe is in my head, and.not in a book.

@freelancermariagrace Yes, you will need an oven to bake.

@simone10 True that. I do hope I have an oven, though
