With our cable company we have our cable, internet and phone. They keep raising the rates and last month the bill was $300 a month. Enough was enough, all we had was basic tv, no movie channels, no sports channels, nothing.
We looked into Hulu live and guess what, for $60 a month we get all our channels, plus movie channels and saved $100 a month on the bill. The shows are on the same time as with cable so I just have to turn on Hulu Live and I can watch all my shows exactly as I did with cable.
Best move we have made in a long time!! Do you use Hulu?

I do not. I only have free apps on Apple TV. I cut the cord three years ago because, like you, I never knew from month to month how much my bill was going to be. It was an outrageous price to pay for watching just baseball, so I got the MLB subscription and ditched cable.

@cintol We enjoy it a lot. You could have different channels added on for an extra $5/month. We got the basic package which was $25/month. They have a sports package, and others. I still think a company would be wise to allow the customer to choose a certain number of channels for a set price. There are some channels on our package that we don't watch because we have no interest in them.

$300 is crazy for sure, Al has a hard time using a smart TV so for now, I keep the cable which makes it easier for him. We pay about $200 for really good cable and Internet from Comcast, I dropped the phone.

You still veg out and watch television? (No wonder you're never on myLot!)
We have a small television that is only hooked up to a DVD player and Pretty's game consoles. (Honest, we haven't watched a television show in over 12 years now. *shake my head* Uhm... I still don't know where all my time goes, though. ) We haven't had a home phone in over 20 years. And my cell phone plan is only $35 a month... Unlimited talk and text with 6 GB of high speed data. (Of course, I only use 500 MB of that per month. ) We have unlimited high speed internet through Suddenlink and pay $65 a month for it.
I'll make a note of Hulu and tell anyone at Walmart who's looking to cut their costs. (You might be surprised how many people are getting fed up with their cable and internet companies! I get two or three people every day I work asking me if there are any better alternatives.)
Thank you for the information.

Haha, once in a while I do, I don't watch a lot as I have to care for the kids all the time, but I do watch what they have on.
Your internet is much cheaper then ours, we have unlimited high speed as well.
Yes, I didn't know about it until my daughter mentioned it, Hulu Live gives you the local channels and movies. Its well worth the $59.99 a mth, in with the new and out with the old cable.

I am so glad you found something better. I had a cable here it I also had basic cable and they did not know how to fix problems and when sent technicians they did not listen to the problem and did not care and only exchanged boxes all the time and that never solved the problem. When Netflix came here my technician helped me set that up and got a TV for it and then I was set and it is cheaper than the horrible cable I had. Congrats to you and I have happy to see you back with us. How are you?

Hanni, I have missed you my friend. I am doing well and how about you. How are you and Sophie doing? Nice that the tech helped you set up for Netflix, that was nice and yes it is much cheaper. We are happy with the hulu so far, just got sick of paying cable for so much we didn't watch and fees and taxes we didn't use.

Cindy, it is so good to have you back. I have missed you too and thank you for asking about Sophie. My computer technician helps me with so many things. He is great. I understand about having a cable that is horrible and have to wait till something comes along that you can have instead.

I wish we could do that, we have a data cap if we go over we get charged $10 extra every time go over by so much. We have been charged $30 extra in a month for going over. Streaming takes a real toll on our data. I am so ready to send the internet and cable packing but it is all we can get right now.

You can't get an unlimited data plan that would benefit and still save money getting rid of cable and getting something like Hulu Live or a Firestick? I don't think we will ever go back to cable at this point, Im not paying their prices anymore.

I don't have Hulu. My mother had thought about getting Hulu, but decided to keep Netflix instead. I might be getting Sling.

I use to. Right now I just have Amazon prime and a 10 channel thing with my cable company that only cost $10 so hubby can watch his football.

Easiest way to go these days, cable bills are just too expensive to have when there are 100 channels and you watch 5, just not worth the money.
