Standing in line at my grocery store. It took less time than it looked like it would.

I took this photo today while standing in line. It's a bit hard to tell but the lane I was on had it's light on and the one of the right was off. During this time we are only using every other lane which means the lines are longer than normal.
One person told me recently that he was in line about twenty minutes but I'm sure I wasn't in line that long or or just seemed less. One thing I also noticed was that if you walk down an aisle, that is perpendicular and further away to be closer to the end of each line that you can't see who your cashier is.
I may actually be the slowest person there is but people like how I bag and come to my lane on purpose for that reason.

Certain people like the way I bag others not so much. I get a lot of repeat customers some is rather not have, especially the ones that come in daily without wearing masks.

@just4him out store finally put up a sign asking customers to wear masks and now more have. Not all but the ratio is better now.

@MarshaMusselman that is the kind of grocery store it is. A bit cheaper, bag our own. We go to the other grocery stores sometimes, but not right now. We are sticking to one store.

@paigea that sounds a bit like Aldi's but I've never been inside so I'm not sure exactly who bags the food. I know they don't supply bags. Your bring boxes or bags and prob do it yourself.

Doubt you are the slowest person there! For me, I have noticed older people are often faster. No nonsense, just getting it done.
Maybe this exercise is patience will help some who dare to say how long they were in your line. At least was something to buy.

I am slower because in the past few years my thumb joints have gotten worse. I have to watch and not stop things on certain days. Some days are good others not so much.
I also like to chit chat.

bagging is important, I feel like maybe they do not cover that subject well when training. I sometimes have to run food home, grab the perishables and put away quickly then leave again, only to find later there was cheese with the shampoo.

Do you try to put your items on the belt on a certain order? We have customers that want their cold together yet throw things on the belt willy nilly. I've no clue how I used to unload but I've changed my way of doing it in the past ten years.
I'm considering writing something about this in the near future since I think more people would benefit and it's something most of us never learned to do correctly.

I have waited in line for quite some time just to go inside the supermarket and I have gotten there when no one was there so did not have to wait. That is our way of life right now. Lines and waiting.

Unless we are able to go back the way it was if even only during the summer months that would be nice. If it begins again come fall and more people comply maybe it will be nipped in the bud that much faster.

You mean lines of waiting customers down every row?

@Nevena83 oh, you didn't only mean at the grocery stores. We don't have those lines here. Not outside anyway. There were lines at the post office recently when I dropped off some mail but nothing out of the ordinary.
