I just spent 45 minutes writing a post about a song I like. Townes wrote it. Emmylou made it famous. Willie made it even more famous. My own version is the best of all, but when I tried to post the post, it disappeared. Sometimes I don't like the internet. Please leave nice comments.

In My Hour of Darkness is a beautiful song and EmmyLou and Gram do a wonderful job with it. Thanks for the compliment. Sorry to burden you. I know you've heard my Pancho and Lefty many times before. I was just pissed off that my post disappeared. I'll look for your post on Parsons.

Excellent rendition. Oh, that guy Cities Von Sant? He’s okay, too.
You do a fine, fine version of a masterful song. Have you done any other Townes songs?

Hey, I like this! I think the Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson version was the one I heard first, but this one is quite good.

@spiderdust I can link you if you don't find it. It's my favorite version and the one that "turned me on to" the song.

@TheHorse I'm not sure if I've heard the Emmylou Harris one before. I'm sure I must have at some point in my life. I'll go listen to it now.

@Butterfingers It's fun to to hear the original.
Townes Van Zandt playing a medley of his hit. This is "Pancho & Lefty" played at Uncle Seymour's place. Taken from the DVD extras on "Heartworn Highways". If...

Well, yeah it happened suddenly without any reason, and we should be cautious about it. And taking extra careful the next time we do and upload something in the internet.

@Jessicalynnt It really was. It was back in the day, and she had her Hot Band with her both times.

Funny story. I was hiking with my buddy, Michael Katz. We were "climbing" Eagle Peak, near Mt. Diablo. I was in the lead, and he said, "Colin, I think you just stepped over a rattlesnake on the trail." I looked back, saw the snake with his mouth open, and fell backwards over a rock. I then went back toward the snake, who was a "juvenile," perhaps two feet long, with only one or two "rattles" to his credit. I am fascinated by ethology, or animal behavior. I grabbed a piece of scrub and "encouraged" him off the trail. He rattled once, briefly, and slithered into the brush. He then coiled in a defensive position, but did not rattle again. I truly believe he understood, in his tiny brain, that Michael and I were not a threat to him. It was then that I snapped the picture you saw. And heck yes, I'll promote my buddy, Michael. I'll provide a link to his website. Many of the stories I told at the preschool in Berkeley, including "The Man Who Could Not Sleep," and "The Stonecutter," came from him.
California storyteller Michael Katz offers performances and workshops throughout the U.S.; featured at the openings of the Disney Concert Hall and the LA Getty Center
