Has anyone tried tunisian or crotat crochet? Do you like it?

I tried to do the crochet on a long needle with a hook at the end one time. I kept losing stitches so gave up.

I've made a few Tunisian crochet scarves. They make up nice and warm. The hook looks like a crochet hook with a very long shaft. I also hope to try the double ended hooks soon as well as locker hooking (I thing that's what it's called). So much to learn, so little time.

What makes tunisian or crotat crocheting different from the traditional way? I have never heard of this but I love to crochet.

Well, Tunisian Crochet also called the afghan stitch is a little like a cross between crochet and knitting. You use a long crochet hook usually 10 to 14 inches long and you hold your stitches on one pass and close them on the second pass. It makes a beautiful material with a lovely drape similar to knitting. Croknit sorry I posted Crotat which is different. Croknit is done using a double ended crochet hook and you use 2 balls of yarn usually different colors. The result is a beautiful double sided material. So if you croknit a baby blanket with one skein of blue and one skein of white your results would be a blanket with one side blue and the other side white. It's really neat!

I have no tried either of these, but they are on my list for this year. Tunisian looks interesting and I have been wanting to try it. But this year I started Loom Knitting and that has taken up a lot of my time.
