How Cool is This

One of the good things that has come out of the present crisis is seeing how many people have risen to the occasion. I have seen so many acts of kindness and thoughtfulness during this time, which is very encouraging.
I was commenting on a post by Myloter Marie @Tampa_girl7 a post about how awesome her local store was in the way they had responded to the current crisis. She asked at the end of her post
“Have you seen partitions this nice in your stores ?”
Well I turned to my son and asked what screens in our local supermarket were like and he told me. I asked because I have not set foot outside my apartment in 7 weeks so I had not seen how they responded.
Shortly afterwards my son went out to get my baguette from the local bakery that I like. A minute or so after he went out I got a video call on whatsapp on my phone.
It was my son and he said he was taking me with him on his walk to the bakery. All the way there he was giving me a commentary and was pointing things out to me.
When we got to the bakery he took me inside still on video and I saw for myself the safety precautions the bakery had put in place.
I stayed with him all the way back till he came inside our front door. During his commentary he said that there was a lot of people out and about, mostly on their own, except for a couple who were out with small children in tow.
He also mentioned that there was a lot more traffic about. It just goes to show how soon things become the new normal.
I was thinking how deserted the streets looked for that time of day and how there was virtually no cars on the roads. I was comparing it to the last time I was out which was before the crisis lock down and he was comparing it with when he last went out lol...
My treat was not over shortly after Sue took our dog Bosun out for his walk. She went by the road that looks out over the seafront and the port. While she was out she sent me a video of the beach and the port taken from the top road as she knew I had missed my morning walk along the seafront.
Again I was struck by how quiet everywhere was, and how forlorn the beach looked deserted.
How cool a way was that, using technology to give me a virtual walk outside so I could see for myself what was going on. And how kind of them to think of doing that for me.
What thoughtfulness and kindness have you been shown?

that's awesome!! technology certainly has won me over with the way things have been going with the virus. Next time my daughter goes out I'm going to ask her to talk me along (virtually). What a great idea!!

@YrNemo Hi Darcy surprisingly I don't think the prices have increased any because of the crisis here. Though our local supermarket does have the odd shortage or run out of things more frequently, but that seems to be quickly resolved..

@marlina That might be because they are having a harder time getting hold of things too and are haviing to pay more to their sources. The restrictions are hitting buyers and sellers alike. Though there will always be a few who will take advantage of a situation to make more money at the expense of others just because they can.

Being over 70 we were told to self isolate during the crisis and unless absolutely necessary not to go outside. Certain restrictions are being lifted on Saturday but as far as I know those thought at risk are still being told we are to self isolate. The restrictions here have been much stricter than in lots of other places round the world and there has been an active police presence on the streets to enforce the lock down. I am quite at peace with the restrictions that have been put on my age group and I will be equally at peace when the restrictions are lifted.

We have learned to contain it and there were restrictions galore and lockdown too. We could not walk very far. Now we can go farther and things are opening up. We are a small country and mistakes I am sure were made but they started to learn from them. We are opening up things and they are watching to make sure we can be rewarded with more things opening up rather than restrictions returning.

@DianneN Like you Dianne technology has been wonderful to me to, my daughter and her family live in the USA and I live in Spain, a lot of my friends are from the UK and I have other friends in other countries and today's technology has made it so we can talk and see each other real time and using things like Skype and Whatsapp we can do it for free if we have wifi.
I know before there were these things available using a phone land line to call abroad calls would cost an arm and a leg to make.

Yes we should try to see the positive aspects and not the negatives ones all the time

@Butterfingers I agree with you Raj because seeing the positive aspects and appreciating them will change the way we experience this time.
