I remember about two months ago I bought 10 packages of yeast from the market since I bake a lot in these days. Each package contains about 12g yeast. Each package cost 1 yuan at that time. Today when I go to the market and want to buy it again. I found that the price is already 2.5 yuan for one package. Wow! That's a big gap in my opinion. I haven't found other groceries' price has increased so much. Perhaps it is a little thing and actually 2.5 yuan is not that much. But I still think this increase is a lot. So I am going to buy the big package of yeast like 500g online and it costs about 25 yuan. It can save a lot

The vegetables and meats' price are still similar and this is why I am shocked to see why the yeast's price increased so much.

I hate to say or think about it but I think the world is headed for a price increase and shortage on a lot of things

@youless I had already started building an urban rooftop vegetable garden on the top of our garage when the lockdown began, it's better to start producing some foods we normally buy

I haven't really noticed. I usually buy my yeast in bulk so I already had enough to last me a year. I do know that there is a shortage of yeast in the grocery store.

In fact I don't want to buy yeast in bulk since it will won't work so well after some time.

That means to say the price is likely the same.

@youless I guess so but I rarely take much notice of prices. If I want sugar, I buy sugar but I will compare prices of different brands.

That is more than a double price of what you have bought before.
