Question For Today- Mask Wearing

So, I decided to go to a couple of stores this week to shop and of course everyone has a mask on including me (mandatory in our state). And it got me to wondering about my question for today.
Just how long are we going to have to wear masks?
I guess it will come down to how effective we are as a country following these social distancing guidelines, the accuracy of the tests conducted to confirm if one is infected, and when a vaccine can be made for people to take.
Any predictions on how long we're going to have to wear these things when doing our errands???

Where I live, masks are mandatory. But I donĀ“t wear them because I have been at home for over a month now.

@dgobucks226 We have to start thinking about another kind of life for a long time.

Yes, mandatory here too. Without a vaccine we could be wearing masks for quite some time in public.

@TheHorse In my state of Louisiana the business should reopen by mid May.

Perhaps the warm weather will make the virus harder to thrive. And less people will be affected causing it to fizzle out. That would be a July 4th to celebrate!

@dgobucks226 No kidding. Maybe the UV rays of Summer will cause the virus to abate.

That's a good point! Even now certain states are lifting restrictions on some businesses.
I'm hoping the virus fizzles out by summer. It will be too darn hot to have to wear a mask then.

They aren't mandatory here, but they should be. I am seeing about 90% of people wearing them. I hope it won't be for too much longer as I hope they get the vaccine tested soon and we see an end in sight for this pandemic. Until then, I'll wear my mask.

@dgobucks226 That's great you had them delivered. Did you need to wait a long time for them?

@just4him Yes it took much longer than I thought. Ordered one from Etsy which arrived in 2-3 weeks. Amazon took around a month. But that was at the beginning when there was more panic, sure it is faster now.

Yes, Amen to your response. I got groceries delivered today and as a precaution wore my mask.

I was wondering the same thing today when I was out how much longer do we have to wear these things. I read on our news here in Israel that hopefully next week they loosen more restrictions and I will continue to read about whether we have to wear masks much longer or not.

I guess the only way to know what will happen this summer is to wait and see.

Until we figure out who is currently infected and who is immune seems we will probably have to all get used to masks. I'm hoping the virus fizzles out by summer. It will be too darn hot to have to wear a mask then.

I'm not sure.... here we don't have to, they are suggesting it though. Good idea I think

@dgobucks226 No, but then, I haven't been out shopping. We are lucky enough to live close enough to a local Walmart that delivers. I go outside walking, but don't wear a mask for that

@FayeHazel I see. I have been doing deliveries too. I ventured out to stores this week with a mask and surgical gloves. Things have calmed down a bit but many items especially if on sale still not stocked. People are probably still hoarding supplies.

@dgobucks226 It is annoying, but I will wear a mask until I am sure that there is no more danger.

It seems the mask measures and distancing are effective. Without a vaccine we could be wearing masks for quite some time in public.

Yes, it is hard to predict. Until we figure out who is currently infected and who is immune seems we will probably have to all get used to masks for now.
At least in the U.S. and other countries

Some politicians and medical "experts" give the impression that we will wear masks forever. Seriously.

Say it isn't so! I'm hoping things ease with the warmer weather and the virus fizzles out. Although,
without a vaccine we could be wearing masks for quite some time in public.

Wearing masks is not enough. A person should also wear gloves since it's our nature to touch things. And also if a person goes out during quarantine, that person should change everything he wears: masks, gloves, shirt and pants. And took a bath to disinfect himself.

Yes, that is true about gloves. It definitely provides extra protection in addition to frequent hand washing, antibacterial wipes and masks.

@LowRiderX Interesting perspective. Maybe some are destined to get the virus and others immune. I guess if you take this view the masks are probably not useful?

@dgobucks226 Actually no, I have never allowed coughing in my face before and I regularly washed my hands, there must be some elementary things that people should know and I didn't notice that people I meet every day, know at least something ( I'm not rough just realistic)... first, what is the protection if you constantly lift and lower the mask with dirty hand? For example, I noticed that people do... whenever they need to ask something they lower their mask?!?!
Secondly, the masks they sell here as 'surgical' should be disinfected and packaged in at least some packaging, at least some bag (in order to keep them clean, right?) but no, they are sold like any other thing in traffic, without any protection, thank you but no ... there is a better chance that I get infected with such a mask than without it

Probably as long as we still have significant virus cases. They are not mandatory here..but the smart people are wearing them..lol, they are highly suggested.

I really don't have a guess. Is sounds like progress on a vaccine is slow. In the US, I'm trying to figure out what's going on. I thought then-President Barak Obama predicted this kind of outbreak and assembled a committee of about 40 people to be ready for such an event. What happened?

Don't think it will be long now.

They have no intention of abiding by the restrictions they impose on their citizens. #FoxNews #Tucker FOX News operates the FOX News Channel (FNC), FOX Busin...
