It's imperative that he possess a good moral compass. He must be of good financial standing, as well as have respectability in society. These terms are simply non-negotiable
What do you think of my ad? Do you think I'll fetch myself a husband with that advertisement?
Which "publication" should I put it on? Facebook? Instagram? *shudders* Tinder ?
The above was clipped from a newspaper on the loc.gov website. It is from the Frederick Douglass' Paper (Rochester, NY) December 22,1854

I had to look up that term. I had never heard of it referred to as that.

I agree with JJ, my compass stopped working many years ago. I just points straight downward, which I assume is showing me the way to hell.

Sometimes I feel like my compass just points in random directions. It's just as hopeless as I am.

@ScribbledAdNauseum So does that mean your compass aligns with your personality? Or with your way of thinking?

Usually if it says imperative, it is.

I just liked the wording, but to be honest I feel sorry for the women who had to do secure a husband to secure a lot in life.

How many responses did you get so far? That is an interesting way to look for a husband.
