We'll Gather Lilacs

I can always remember my grandma who had a wonderful soprano voice singing We'll Gather Lilacs in the Spring Again and I now have that song in my head after taking a walk round the garden and seeing that our lilac is now in blossom. We planted it just outside our back door so, when we have the kitchen window open, we can smell it. Reminds me of my childhood. We had a huge garden and Dad planted a variety of lilacs around it ... all different colours, from white, to pale pink right to deep purple. Despite the rain, I decided to take a trip out and take a quick snap of it.

I know that song. My Mum was very thrilled when her lilac bloomed. It was really too hot for lilacs where she lived but she managed to get hers to flower.

I love lilacs. Wish they would bloom all summer.
