@Alexandoy That seems to be a more "political" reason for sure.

@LadyDuck why arrest a guy who gives food and money to the public? That's plain politics.

Not really. The former mayor was arrested because he is the political enemy of the current mayor.

So I heard. At least now people will know that the law excuses no one. He could have informed the baraggay officials or authorities if he wants to donate so they can arrange things for him

Yeah looks like there is some kind of political play going around my city. The incumbent mayor is saying that the former mayor is trying to outdo what he is doing for the city. When he initiated rolling stores to make the goods be sent to the barangays(small communities within a city/municipalities), the ex mayor copied it and offered it at a much lower price which the local government got disappointed since they didn’t apply for any business permit and they also discovered that the goods they were selling came from donations. I do not know who is telling the truth in here but it seems the former mayor is trying his best to have his presence seen and taking advantage of the situation to stay relevant.

@Alexandoy True the incumbent was just asking that before they do donations to the community they should have the courtesy to inform the authorities about it so they can be given assistance by them like guidelines on how to do the distribution of goods and provide security to them. But the former did not follow such which made it kinda wrong so they performed their activity without following some of the rules.

To me, giving food and money to the people is not arrogance. I am fair to everyone.

Believe it or not, the same thing happens to regular citizens who get arrested by the local police In some cities just for playing at a public park in violation of the lockdown rules. I cannot believe that a former mayor in Jinggoy get arrested just for helping people in need. This is an outrage.

For playing, it is right to arrest them. But in helping people, arresting is plain politics.

Oh my, he's got to wear a mask and keep the distance! I hope they give people a pill pass often enough. Are cases coming down in your area?

You are right with fairness in treatment of the law. But that is unfair for the person who is helping the people by distributing food stuff and money. It is like depriving the public of the benefactor.
