May 5 is the fateful day of ABS-CBN TV Network in the Philippines. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) imposes the closure for its franchise to operate is already long over due. The public express their great dismay especially in the social media. ABS-CBN Is one of biggest television companies in the service of the Filipino for 64 years. We had our first TV set in 1986 and this network is our main source of entertainments, news and community affairs. Now ABS-CBN is signing off. The public viewers bewail. What a sad reality.

I posted a discussion about it some 5 months ago, before the corona virus pandemic. What do you think has the situation been normal had they been able to renew the franchise?

I don't think so. There's a malice to it. It has been planned to shut them down whatever matters. Now it's done.

@Nakitakona all those good things they have done to the community during the pandemic did not have an influence at all.

@florelway That's the law of nature. Once a person commits a mistake all his good works couldn't be remembered anymore.

This is clearly an example of how this government has been abusing its power and going after those who are critical of it.

@Nakitakona sad that the government that was voted to serve the country is the one turning its back on the people.

That is true and the timing it was issued was really controversial. They issued it late in the Afternoon and there is just no way for the network to do any legal action on it.

@Nakitakona yeah one legal trick to do when you do not want to question the legality of the order you will deliver them late in the afternoon so they would have to do it the next day. Another is that they issued it in the middle of quarantine sobthe government offices ate mostly closed to.

@rsa101 You're right in your observation. In short it has a malice.

If Abs-cbn will be back most likely they will become a pro-duterte channel now. GMA are able to getting away with bashing duterte because they just got renewed.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Well I highly doubt that but if the duterte people behind would be successful in convincing the owners to give up control then you might just be right

Damn they shouldn't really mess with Quiboloy that's for sure. Blame that on Vice Ganda for even challenging him.

Now he will brag that he is God more. Well He is Duterte's BFF who is also China's Bff. Now more Filipinos will see Mocha as their source of news. This is North Korea levels.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Let's be ready to face the downfall and oppression our country will have in the near future. If there will be no check and balance and keeps on persisting it, I'm afraid there will be no presidential election.

I dont know the full issue, but it is sad that they are closing during this time. Many people lost their jobs in the middle of a pandemic

@Nakitakona True enough. I just saw it in the feeds. They said the network did illegal things in the past. And I haven't checked what exactly is that. The other grey areas I have in mind is whether it has not something to do with the president's politics. But as I said, I know nothing about the real story.

That's the most painful part in the lives of the employees and workers of the said TV network.
