What the EFFF?!?!

Sometimes when you wake up you just have no idea what is in store for you. You plan, plan, plan, and then you wake up with your freaking ear buds decapitated. These are my mom's earbuds. She uses them to listen to music and she just used them last night to watch a movie on TV. She places up coiled up on the couch like she always does and she goes to bed. This morning she woke up and was about to grab her earbuds so she could do some yard work and...they were not in the place where she left and they were lying on the side of the couch missing the earbud part and also the earbuds are no where to be found. WHAT?! How?! WHo?! I'm scared. You see them right, so your first instinct would be like "a mouse?" yeah, we thought that too, but if you look at them they are both cut down at an angle.. A mouse or any kind of vermin would not have does that so precisely. The plastic would be frayed. Also, my mom had napkins and (naughty her) some snacks left on the couch. Those were not touched at all. There were also no dropping left on or near the couch. So, just what happened?! They look like they were cut. They go at an angle, if they were pulled then there would be plastic that was stretched. They had to have been cut. I'm so confused, I'm kind of scared....I don't know what is happening. This reminds me of when a few years ago I woke up to my glasses being broken. I used to set my glasses on my bookcase and go to sleep. One morning I woke up to one half of my glasses next to my be and the other Clear across the room! No way I could have broken them in my sleep. I would have had to reach over, hit my hand on my laptop like I always did that also sat on my bookcase, and then snap them in half. but still the other side across the room? That makes no sense! And also...what happened to the tops of the earbuds? Where did they go?!?!?! Like...they were cut and the tops were just GONE my mom cannot find them anywhere. I'm scared, I don't know what is happening, just what the ffffuuuuhhhhh
