Wooden chopping board vs plastic chopping board

Some years ago, I had used wooden chopping board. But since that was a long time ago, I decided to buy a new one, this time a plastic chopping board. I saw instantly the advantage of wooden chopping board. With wooden board, you can cut the meat with ease, it does not bounce, unlike with plastic chopping board. On the other hand, plastic chopping board is much easier to clean. But still, I prefer the bulky wooden chopping board. It may not be convenient to.wash and carry but it is the best cutting surface ever. what about you?

I use both. The wood one is great for breads, but the plastic are easier to sanitize.

I prefer a good quality plastic one. I keep two chopping boards one for meat and another for veggies.

i agree, plastic chopping board is easier to clean, but i prefer wooden. also cuts are more visible on plastic ones, or that's how it seems to me.

I once heard that wooden chopping boards could be cleaned better. O have my own wooden ones and I wash then with detergent, scrub them and let them dry.

We have both. The plastic is used strictly for meat because it's easier to clean. The wood is used for everything else.

@Janet357 We are afraid that the meat juices may get down in the wood.

I used both wooden and plastic chopping board. I use the wooden chopping board most of the time in cutting meat and veggies while the plastic ones when I make our sandwiches.

You are right that a wooden board is much better for cutting but the other thing that makes a difference is the cleaning, they say boards can much easier hold bacteria. That is not a good thing at all.

@Janet357 Yea, and that is not something I want and who wants to replace it all the time when it gets all nasty.

oh yes, I couldn't agree more. Most wooden chopping boards I.see turn black after using them for a long time.
