Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there and all of you fathers that have to fill that role for your kids too. And I say that because my dad filled both roles for me and my sister when my mom moved to another state to be with man she met on the internet. I, for one, am glad this day is over. Mother's day for me should be a happy day but it's not because most of my family don't see me as a mother because I've never given birth and I will never give birth to a child that is biologically mine. But I don't believe that motherhood starts with DNA. It starts when you love and care for a child, it doesn't matter if they are yours by blood or not. I sent out probably 25 texts and did a facebook post to wish my friends and family a Happy Mother's day and NOT ONE said the same back to me. And I had a friend text me back saying "Thanks. What did you get me?" My dad and my sister are the only ones besides Kaylee to wish me a happy mother's day today and I'm okay with that. I know what I am and I know what I'm not. I am a mother with a bonus daughter and I will continue to do everything in my power to keep her happy and safe and to make sure she follows her dreams.
