It was my father who pointed out to me the Pansit-pansitan herb that was growing in our front yard. He said that eating that herb in a salad is a good treatment for arthritic pains. Fortunately I have no arthritis so until now I don't know if it is really effective. There's a lot of that herb growing around our house.

"Meat falls to those that have no teeth" it's an old African saying. And its true for your case, you have the herb but no need for it while someone out there desperately needs but don't have the herb or the knowledge about it's use ..
Wish someone who needs could see your post

There were several people who asked me for that herb. But I forgot to ask the result if it was effective. Thank you for sharing the proverb.

@Alexandoy for them to ask for it I think they probably knew it works . I suppose it is effective and for your Dad to pass on the knowledge it should be effective for sure. The people in the past generations where very good with herbs and most of the herbs they were using are effective

@Helikaputo you are right, the old folks here know many herbs that are medicinal. Unfortunately they did not teach us everything.

@Alexandoy My grandfather eats it at times. I do not know for what but he says it’s medicinal. I never tried it myself because i do not find it appealing to eat.

@rsa101 it tastes like lettuce and not really bad when mixed in a vegetable salad.

Are they being used for arthritis or just considered weeds?

A former colleague eats that in a salad with lettuce and cucumber. He has arthritis but I don't know how effective that is in his case.

Yes my mother tried drinking the boiled juice of pansit pansitan before for pain. It grows everywhere. I don't want to try it ever

@Alexandoy I think so. It's a long time ago. She doesn't eat it. What she do is boil it and drink. She is not drinking now

Was your mother relieved of the pain? They said it is more effective if it is eaten in a salad with lettuce and vinegar for the dressing.

Yes, I am tending medicinal herbs for that purpose. When they need, they just ask and I will give them for free. I also have lemon grass and a small tree with leaves that is good for the kidneys.

We called it the Tawa-tawa plant in Mindanao. I heard that the tea of Tawa-tawa is a cure for dengue. I have plenty of this plant in my Philippines front yard and we care for it as it is a herb. Gladfully, my relatives know more about this plant than me.

I had posted Tawatawa a few days ago. I have a plantation because there were already 6 dengue patients that were cured with the help of that herb. One was the nephew of my wife.

This is exactly what I was wanting to know, and came across it without looking. Thank you for this insight. My Mother has bad arthritic fingers in particular and back, neck. We shall certainly give this a try. I also have fibromyalgia which is similar to arthritic pain without the inflammation. So I might just give it a go myself.
