I May Never Leave the House Again

Being in self quarantine from our return from Florida hasn’t been bad at all.
We are able to hike and take walks, but won’t risk shopping at all even with a mask.
So how do we get what we need? Our younger son risked his life stocking up our refrigerator at our local supermarket and made a Costco run for us. We don’t want him doing that for us.
I ordered from Omaha Steaks last week. Our delivery will arrive Friday.
I ordered from Instacart yesterday, and everything I wanted was delivered in under 2 hours. Our personal shopper did all our shopping from the supermarket and asked if he could substitute a product for another. He texted everything he placed in a cart and even took a photo of where he placed our groceries ~ in the photo. Our vegetables were perfectly chosen and blemish free!
I will place orders using Instacart at Costco and our pharmacy.
Home Depot will be delivering my beautiful annuals tomorrow.
I love shopping like this and feel this will keep us all safe. Btw, I still sanitize everything.

We also have a personal shopper who goes buy for us, but I risked my life to go to the store a couple of times. All people behave, they keep the distance, they wear the mask and gloves. I only stayed inside 15 minutes anyway. I sanitize everything before storing.

@DianneN As it is mandatory to wear a mask and disposable gloves in the stores (and to keep the distance) I was pretty safe inside the store. Early in the morning there are very few customers. Sanitizing is really a huge procedure, but I want to feel safe.

I'm happy you are protecting yourself, but whether it's keeping us all safe is open for debate. YOU may not be shopping in the store, but that Instacart employee is. I don't know if Instacart uses the same person from beginning to end in the shopping process, but most other shopping services don't. One employee gets the list and does the shopping, then hands the order off to another employee to process and ring up. That employee then hands the order off to another employee who goes outside and loads it into a waiting car. That waiting car then has another employee who delivers it. A whole lot of people touching groceries for one customer. It would have been almost safer if the person just came into the store and did the shopping themselves instead of hiring a service to do it for them.

@DianneN I hope you are able to continue staying safe Dianne! Although, if you did get the virus, I know you are a tough cookie and would beat it, like I did.

@moffittjc I’m at risk due to having high blood pressure and having had pneumonia three times.

I had one person, but there was no face to face contact.
Even if 100 people were involved, everything gets sterilized before it comes in the house.
No thanks. Not risking our live wandering the stores loaded with covidiots.
Who knows how many people touch my food in the supermarket, including shoppers?
So far, so good with us. We haven’t gotten sick, yet.

I think I am going to like on-line shopping permanently even after the corona mess is over.

@Spontaneo Oh, yes, that is something I will most likely continue doing. Once the farm markets open here and they are safe, I will shop there. This online shopping is wonderful!!!!

@DianneN I meant for certain groceries. For example, I like to buy my favorite seltzer on-line with free shopping as opposed to having a person drive 35 miles to the nearest city.

Not a bad idea of home delivery especially in this period, however somehow I used to go and choose for myself, especially when it comes to fruit or vegetables.

No one delivers to where we are, and I still NEED to see what I am buying. We do not go often though, and hubby does not go in.

@DianneN I agree. We pay over the phone and have no contact. Then wipe everything down as we bring it in.

@Tampa_girl7 That's the way to do it. I can't believe all the people returning to "normal" with people still dying.

That is super cool about Home Depot delivering your pretty flowers. H D delivered our new toilet- AND charged us fifty smackers for the job. Ouch. But that was safer than it maybe fitting into the car and maybe not falling onto my gear shift as I drove.

Sounds great. We did several errands today. Hubby wanted to go to the art store. They only let one customer in at a time and are only open 2 hours per day. Also, he could have ordered and they would bring it to the car.
I, of course, had my unsuccessful trip to the bank. I wiped everything before I touched it.
Only one of us went in each place and lots of wiping when we got back to the car.
Then home to sanitize everything. Glad it is only every ten days or so. Many places are allowed to open on Friday. I will not be going to town Friday!
We have the option of ordering and having groceries brought to our car. Too rural for delivery. But Hubby isn't interested.

@DianneN Semi-rural, semi-suburbs. The Giant Eagle and Walmart don't deliver.

Good that you can order online and have it delivered at your doorsteps. As for me, I am very near the SM Supermarket. Just few steps but the queue of people going in is very long.

The only thing I want to do ... I mean I WANT TO ... is attend a worship assembly. All the other stuff I'd be happy to do from home. Have my groceries delivered, etc. I don't really need to leave home for anything other than worship.
