Finally Talked to my Uncle's Nurse

I wrote about my uncle going into quarantine last week (nursing home) after testing positive for COVID-19. He has a new room number and I have been calling every day, several times a day to talk to him. Never an answer.
As some know, the step-daughter did not add me to the call list, so the nurses cannot tell me anything. Today I talked to the CNA that answered the phone. Explained my situation, how far away I am, etc. She put me on hold to get the charge nurse.
After holding twenty minutes, the nurse came to the phone. She asked several questions, who are you, your relation, etc. Finally she told me how he was doing.
He ran a fever over the weekend. But the fever is gone today. He will be re-tested in one week (Thursday) and when he tests negative for COVID, he will be taken out of quarantine and back to his regular room.
That was all I needed to know and I thanked her very much. His good physical health is helping him fight this virus. I hope he continues to do well. The talk made me smile.

@LowRiderX I have no idea. I have not talked to him since he went into quarantine. Today it was only the nurse. I will keep trying every day to call. He will not move out of quarantine until his test is negative.

@CarolDM When will you have a chance to talk to him again? When did he move him to the regular room?

I’m glad to hear he’s doing well (considering). Maybe he could ask for you to be added to the call list?

Thank you, I was so relieved. You hear nothing and you think the worst. I have even been reading stories online in the city where he is, trying to get any information about him. The step-daughter is in charge. Long story. She has put it off for this reason and that reason, she is buy, etc. I only call or text her as a last resort. The last excuse I got was when the pandemic is over. Duh, this is the most important time to be on the list. Ok, sorry. Rant over.

That's brilliant! When I was able to talk on the phone to my step Granddad to find out how he's been doing I was so pleased to hear his voice! He had a nasty cough for a couple of weeks but he shook it off, stubborn Yorkshire man!!
Crazy as this sounds my Dad was told that a cure for corona virus or at least respiratory problems is to eat
6 raw radishes 3 times a day for a week and see how that goes until you feel better. This advice came from a pharmacist.

@CarolDM well I don't know if it is a cure but certainly this pharmacist seems to believe in raw radishes. I am pleased that you at least got to know how your uncle is doing. When being without contact and living so far away it must be a worrying time for you. And glad that he is doing better.

Terrible that you couldn't just get an answer, and you had to jump hoops to get it. Glad his fever is gone.
