did you receive help from unexpected sources?

my neighbor has been applying for new teaching contracts overseas and his savings from his last contract has been depleted.
when the government distributed financial aid last week, all of his siblings received money, except him.
he was surprised that while chatting with some of his former students overseas, some of them said they'll send him money in whatever amount he needs. his former students are business owners now.
it's ironic, he said, that help came from another country, not from the family he lives with. i mean his siblings could have given him even just 500 pesos (10 US dollars) each from the financial aid they received to help him.
were you ever surprised to receive help from someone you did not expect, even though you never asked for it?

Why didn't he receive any money? That is too much they did not want to help one of their own. Yes, I have received help from someone I did not expect to get it from or someone that offered to help.

@hereandthere Yes,it happened once with me.I stayed at a hotel in Kolkata. On the day I had to check out,I went to the counter and was shocked to realise someone had picked my pocket.I had forgotten my credit card back at home and all the cash I had was stolen. The man at the counter was asking me for payment and I didn't have any money in my pocket.Suddenly a young man who was sitting on a sofa came to me and said,""Don't worry.I'll pay your bill."He paid my bills.I did not know him.Nor did he live in my town. Why did he help me?? I payed him back later, and now we are close friends.

@hereandthere Good, helpful persons are still here in our world.Sometimes God sends them to help us when we really and badly need help. Last year that gentleman accepted my invitation to join us on my mother's birthday. Now it's my turn to attend his sister's wedding in June next year.

I did. It was way back 2018 when I was hospitalized and need to undergo multiple surgeries,it was really unexpected coz no one really knows my condition except for my family members and that I did not ask for any help at all.But I was surprised upon waking up in my hospital bed,my classmates from grade school to college come to visit me and offer help giving me cash aids. It was really a big amount that no words can express my gratitude to them. More with the amount, they also provide food and hospital supplies for me

How wonderful for your neighbor - he had some thoughtful and generous former students who were in a position to help him now. I can't think when I've ever received surprise help . . . I often don't let on to anyone that I need help.

I am thinking hard here . I remembered one certain dark period of my life, when I least expected it, my sister suddenly appeared like an angel, came to help me getting rid of my horrible irises (which took over our property at the time). The funny thing is, she has never been a strong woman, but she did it successfully.

@hereandthere extra surprising when I tried for three years, but couldn't do the task, even with my husband's help. Those irises grew wild. But when my husband got very sick that time, my sister came and steadily removed them all in two days while I watched in awe. She was amazing.

it turns out they are now business owners, since the schools he taught were international schools so i guess it's safe to assume the students came from families who could afford it.

The siblings could have shelf out money from the financial help they received. My uncle received money and my sister and father did not. I understood with my father because we (his children) to help out but my sister needs it because her husband's company closed out.
Yesterday, I received financial assistance from SSS.

exactly. what's 500 if you received, for example, 5000 or more?
it's really hard to understand how some people are qualified while some are not.

It's a bit of a shame if his family didn't think to help him a little bit. We have received gifts from time to time that were entirely unexpected.
