Yes, I am blatantly ripping off Lori A. Moore’s series on her favorite zoos. That prompted my thinking about zoos I have visited and realization of how few I have visited despite all my travels and advanced age. I am not particularly enamored of zoos and usually pass on them. Once you have seen a giraffe.... Zoos are listed in order in which I visited. My hometown zoo. Known as Griffith Park Zoo from 1912 to 1966, the renamed Los Angeles Zoo moved to its present location still within the park in 1966. Griffith Park is vast in size being the largest public facility in LA and home to the famous observatory (famously shown in the classic movie “Rebel Without a Cause”). I do remember visiting this zoo. It was a school field trip and recall running around with other kids and buying an ice cream sandwich. Not a particularly highly regarded zoo. It was shut down for a five year renovation. The zoo is located across the street from the Autry Museum of the American West which I have visited a number of times.
The two ocelot kittens that were born in March 2018 have been given access to their exhibit over the past few days. They may go outside on the exhibit, or st...

We have visited a lot of zoos. Hubby really likes them. I think they can be really nice and you can also learn about plants while there as well as animals. I may get to Lori's posts too. I have not been to LA or to its zoo.

That's our go-to zoo! We had memberships up until last year. Just curious if you've ever hiked through the Old Los Angeles Zoo?

I have visited a few zoo's mainly for my children's sake. I love animal reserves better, where they roam free.

I've visited the Saskatoon Zoo - my college graduation was there as well as visited their Christmas lights tour many years. I've been to GuZoo's in Thriee Hills ( my mom tells me they mentioned GuZoo's on the TigerKing) They closed down in 2015. And The one I've been to the most is the Calgary Zoo. Many summers, multiple visits. My favourites were always the polar bears and the Dinosaur section. And the Aquarium in Minneapolis/St Paul! I got to touch a Manta Ray and a Sand Paper shark.

I have been to only a few zoo's in my life. I enjoy seeing the animals and I love seeing the excitement my kids get from it.

I've only visited one zoo in my life and it was in my hometown. I visited it a lot as a child. My grandmother had a beauty shop nearby and the zoo was free at that time.

I visited LA Zoo in 2003. I know I have been to London Zoo a couple of times, but I can't remember why. Must have been in the last century!

@JohnRoberts I have visited some other zoos besides our zoo here in Jerusalem. Our soo from what I remember was in a very small location until it moved to where it is now. The view is so nice where it is now and very very big and spread it. It is very hard to walk around the whole place. I like our zoo and you can really get good exercise there.
