After leaving two messages and being on hold for 15 minutes, I finally got an update on my uncle in the nursing home. He tested positive for COVID on May 7th and went into quarantine.
Today he was re-tested. And the results were positive yet again. He has been running a low grade fever all week and not feeling well.
Nurses are having to feed him. Breaks my heart to know this. They will re-test again on Monday. Hoping for the best.
Never take anyone for granted. Stay safe and take care everyone.

I am so sorry. Thankful for workers who will feed and care for our fragile elderly.

Oh I hope he gets through this. This virus is a bear, but I know some older folks who have gotten through it just fine--they were sick but recovered--hugs

He's going to have to test negative 2 days in a row before they start the 14-day countdown to declare him recovered. I feel bad that he has to go through all this. I feel bad you are going through it too, and can't be there to support him.

Praying that he feels better soon. It's terrible to be sick at that age.

@CarolDM Maybe they weren't sick enough to be admitted?

@LindaOHio I just thought if they were positive they should be admitted instead of infecting the residents who are not positive. They are in quarantine but I wonder about the employees. Many of those are positive as well.

He's still living so there is hope. Some of the stories of people surviving against the odds should give you hope. Good that he has proper caretakers.
